Subject: Project Thread - Back to painting the Cult

Hi there, this is my first post here so hopefully I do this properly (please let me know if I've messed up).
Like a lot of people my age I have been returning to the hobby after a loooooooong time away and through a strange sequence of events it seems like my first painted army since the turn of the millennium is going to be a genestealer cult consisting of non GW models. The plan at this point is to have a game of 2nd edition 40k at BOYL next year.
Automatically Appended Next Post:
Currently the only finished models are these four that were used at this years BOYL to play a game of Space Weirdos in the Necromunda setting.
I'm currently working through this lot and will post up more pictures as I go along.
And have a Limo, Land Speeder, Land Raider, Brood Brothers, Purestrains, Magos and Patriarch to add to this lot.

Cheers, they are from all over the place.
For the fully painted ones, the hybrid is from L72 Miniatures, the brood brothers are tech cultists from Checkpoint models and the purestrain is from Hybrid Miniatures.
The big group of half painted hybrids are from a kickstarter that should be up later this year. I don't actually have anything to do with it but was lucky enough to be sent some of the early casts, these ones are resin but I'm fairly sure for the kickstarter they will be in metal.
The tank is a 3D print that I designed myself, it was inspired by the very first Leman Russ model that was released for Epic.

I have a rather terrible workflow that I would not recommend to anyone as I originally learnt CAD modelling for completely different reasons and have then twisted my techniques to make models for 3D printing. But basically I use sketchup for the concept stage as I find it quick and easy to work with and then work up the final model in blender which is a lot more clunky to use but can do much more sophisticated modelling. Automatically Appended Next Post: Thank you to everyone for the lovely replies, I'm a fairly slow painter but will keep this updated when I have made any progress worth sharing.

Well, the models look spectacular, so I'll call your workflow results brilliant. Going to try to print something of yours this weekend if things stay calm.
I haven't touched Sketchup in years. Do you use an older version or are there recent versions?

Thank you that is lovely to hear. If you do ever print anything please share some pics, I love seeing other people enjoy my models.
I use a slightly old version of sketchup, I got the perpetual license the last year it was available. It's not great for making STLs, so I just use it for making a quick model before moving the project into blender.

Printed out a few and put the Makes on Cults. Posted about them in my often neglected hobby blog here, so hopefully I can work towards finishing them up sooner than later.

Last of the fellas from Old School Miniatures finished off. I've decided to call them Lumpy, Clumpy and Bumpy, but can never remember which ones which.
Now to finish off Big Mavis

Loving the Retro Stealers you’ve got here, the Leman Russ proxy looks great too.
I think I’ve got a download of your bunker somewhere in my print queue, will definitely post when I get around to it

I look forward to seeing that. It is by far and away my most downloaded model (probably because it is free) but I have hardly seen any that folks have printed off. Automatically Appended Next Post:
Cheers, there will be more. I need to finish these off and then get a board built for (hopefully) a game at BOYL next year.
