And finished before Christmas! I don't if I really got the lighting as gloomy as needed but i like it. But that bilbo sculpt was a little limited on the details in the face. Gandalf was fun though.

That's brilliant!
Reminds me of Roman Lappat's framed Balrog diorama.

Great atmosphere!

I don't know if I will have the time to paint for this month's comp, but if so it will be these guys (from last month):

Not a spectacular job of work but yet again participation in this great monthly challenge has given me the push to finish a project that otherwise would’ve sat untouched and incomplete probably indefinitely. Thanks to all of you for being here, for being awesome, being an inspiration and for tolerating my middling to bog-standard painting every month. I really do appreciate the monthly painting challenge a lot.

Mostly, on my phone.

I'm going to try to get a building done to go with my troopers. I didn't want the building that's also in the Shatterpoint core set to look identical, so I got to work:

First, removed the light fitting.

Then, added new door, vents, sign, hatches and a different light.

And minor changes to the walls

I want it to feel as if it's consistent without being the same, and I also want it to feel a bit seedy and grubbier.
Gotta love the MEdge sprue
On we go!

Time to express my sympathy. Between assembly and now the stupid bird on Girlyman's backpack broke off four times. Horrid design.

I shouldn't be having trouble deciding what to paint so close to the deadline, but this Tyranid prime is one more possibility.

Seer is done except for varnish and basing. Quick teaser image.

Slowly and surely, we are getting there:

Still some more work to be done, but these models are coming along nicely. Stormcast are oddly satisfying to paint for some reason.

My armies (re-counted and updated on 11/7/24, including modeled wargear options):
Dark Angels: ~16000 Astra Militarum: ~1200 | Imperial Knights: ~2300 | Leagues of Votann: ~1300 | Tyranids: ~3400 | Stormcast Eternals: ~5000 | Kruleboyz: ~3500 | Lumineth Realm-Lords: ~700

All done. Just the two minis. No time for any more.

Eldar Seer and Sniper.

And some individual pics of the seer, as she is less 2D than the sniper.

Nice work, everybody who is finished. To all those still working, finish the year strong!

Lots of great models, I especially loke the frame from Lord of the Rings and converted Yvrinne.
The mammut tank is ready. I also had a time to make wo figures and a base. it is supposed to represent a workshop or factory floor.

That tank is fantastic, the guy at the drafting board is a great touch!

I've been re-engaging too, should be able to get these in on time. Base coats and first round of washes done:

The eyes on the one guy are driving me nuts though! Actually, it drove me to buy a new super detail brush which I hope solves the problem, although it's possible that I've glopped enough layers on at this point in my many failed attempts that he may be beyond salvage. Basing, detail work, final pics, and that'll be another year wrapped up.

Hope everybody has had a great Christmas…

Alas, I’ve finished this months entry after several hiccups (including gluing the head on in the wrong place and snapping the model in two whilst fixing it to the base)

Anyway, after having finally dealt with those … ahem… setbacks… here is my conversion of the Hive Tyrant kit inspired by the version seen in Space Marine 2 … otherwise know as:

The Atrocity!

Definitely been a challenge trying to convert and then paint this model to look as much like the battle damaged monster from the game as possible but I’m satisfied with the result. He has an ‘angry’ vibe to him, and that makes me happy as the example in the game is rage incarnate. Hope you like.

In before the end of the year!

I love the guy adding crudely-rendered additional weapons to the blueprints, halfling84. (Also the tank looks great, and you've chosen some good angles to photograph it from!)

Forgot to say thanks to Nevelon and Geifer for the encouragement after my mishaps during the final stages of this months entry. It was, um, a little frustrating to have that model snap on me fixing it to the base but fortunately it did so in the huge ‘ball and socket’ area of the torso/pelvis joint. Gluing the head on in the wrong place was even more of a disaster but, after geeing myself up a little, I simply went all out and applied the force needed to snap it off (thanks to superglue for being brittle)

Still not 100% convinced on the position of the head but, as I painted this big bug in a ton of subassemblies, I found it very awkward to handle and ‘dry fit’ the painted pieces when putting it all together. Seriously, this model is just a pin cushion of spiky bits. It was a case of apply a spot of glue and hold in position whilst muttering a short prayer the thing would actually stay in place!

Ah well, it’s all part of the fun!

I am currently in alien territory right now… working on a WWII Corsair kit! I got that airbrush for Xmas so am keen to mess about with something with alot of flat panels. To say I’m lost is putting it mildly… here’s my hobby bench at the moment:

I'm probably going to need a couple of days extension, I've been struggling with flu since Christmas and I won't be able to paint tomorrow because of New Years engagements...

The stuff I'm painting is just random Eldar (mainly) models, and they're not even that complicated, I just hadn't had the motivation to get stuff finished before Christmas and then flu has taken away the time after.

I was thinking when ai put up this month if I should just end it on the first anyway. Give people the new year’s day to finish up. December is a hot mess for a lot of people in a lot of ways. You need a couple of days, we can do that.

I will close this first thing in the morning on Friday the 3rd, eastern time. So a bit of extra time to work with.
