Slow progress. I do so love the holiday months. Base for Shadowguide, new ears and a ridge reduction for the Yvraine conversion.

The land raider look fantastic. Well done!
I think this is my last update before the finished picture. Most colours on, just some touch ups to do. I think I need to do something to the skin - there is something not quite right and I can't put my finger on what it is.

The tank itself is ready Since I have a lot of time until the end of the month, I'll make a base too. The tank and proof picture of the base (so far just a piece of styrofoam):
youwashock - the model modified with green stuff looks great, I'm curious how it will look like completed. It reminds me my army of daemonettes made in similar way

@Daia T’Nara - I used a camo pattern inspired by that same pic for my first LR. One of these days I need to either fix it or finish the job the sun did on the back deck of my car and turn it into wrecked terrain.
@Zambro - I agree that the skin could use something not sure what though. It feels a little flat? Same-y? Like maybe there should be a little more contrast between the soft underbelly and the crunchy armor bits? You have dark claws and tail spikes, mabe take a little of that shade and drybrush? it on the scales to deepen them a little?
Just a random thought, no idea what the rest of your army looks like and I’ve only ever painted one saurus (and that was mostly as a test bed for a new contrast paint)

The month is half over, and there are a bunch of holidays at the end, so plan accordingly. Also, now is the time to start tossing out ideas for January’s competition.

Maybe "Two-Faced" in honor of the ancient Roman god Janus. So, Models that seem sneaky, lying, likely to betray, physically have two faces built into the model like D&D ettins, models where both head swaps will be painted and swap-able, a certain Batman villain, etc.

Hey, just want to say I think that feathered head-dress is looking great! Regarding your comment on the skin, I can offer an observation.
In short, the skin needs more contrast; in particular shadows.
If you look at the deepest crevices on the model, say, inbetween the toes, you’ll notice the colour is nearly the same as the lightest mid tones on the upper torso. This is immediately obvious to the human eye. In reality, those deepest crevices should be far, far darker… even in a model with such light skin.
My suggestion would be to take a wash, say something dark blue/purple like Drakenhof Nightshade, and apply that to the skin and then highlight back up to those lighter tones. It shouldn’t be too difficult as that heavily textured boy will accept a good drybrush no problem at all. You could then reserve the very lightest tones for the face, fingers and upper body areas!
Another option, if you don’t fancy having to reapply the mid tones and highlights, is to take a wash and simply carefully apply it into the deepest cracks and crevices with a very small brush. This should add that extra punch and you wouldn’t need to bother adjusting anything else.
Anyway, that is what I think is missing, hope my suggestions are helpful in some way!

I'm merrily painting my Primarch. I think I'm on schedule, and yes, I am painting to a schedule because I don't think I'd get a large model like that done in a month if I went about it casually, but half the month is over already and there's not just the model itself but also his humongous base. At this rate I may have to add a second painting session each day. I guess if I were inclined to say something nice about GW's prices, it's that you get a whole lot of painting time for your money. Bit of an issue when you're painting to a deadline, though.
I haven't even given any thought to what legion the dead Chaos Marine on the base is going to be.

Not sure how much scope it's got as a theme, but 'frugal' has been swimming around in my head these past couple of days. Could be in-universe penny-pinching, like troops equipped with bargain basement gear, or ruleswise, for miniatures with a low points value, or real-world, like making a character out of a regular trooper tarted up with accessories from the bits box and a fancy paint job instead of paying top dollar for the actual Captain/whatever miniature.

Frugal sounds interesting, although I am also not sure what I would choose.
I would propose "Leftover" as well. Maybe you built a unit, but one or two models more than you needed to fill the movement tray. It could also be the last survivor of an otherwise defeated unit. Alternatively, you could kitbash something from the remnants of a sprue or two.
I have my entry finished, I just need to break out the lightbox.

@halfling84: Hardly! You have put out some magnificent pieces
Well, I did a full 180 degree turn with the color scheme. Took a WIP photo with a black background while I was photographing some other minis.
I liked the previous iteration as well, but it resembled the cover art a bit too much.
I wanted to go my own "cartoonish" way with it.

I like those Redemptionists-- especially the crazy eyes on the Arch Zealot.
I'm in the same boat as CB: I can't seem to get good photos. I need to get a second light source, I think. For now, here's a mostly-acceptable group shot:

Some awesome looking stuff coming through now.
I’m just getting back to the table after coming down with a pretty nasty winter bug of some description. A vile experience, but I think it’s on the way out.
I imagine I’ll be done some time after Christmas Day…

New & Shiny : Apprentices, new recruits, factory-fresh tanks etc. Could also be painting a mini with glossy/metallic paintwork, or painting a newly released/purchased mini.Slow & Steady : Shambling hordes, lumbering vehicles, tortoises winning against Hares. Slow and inexorable. Or perhaps the subject looks like they are taking it easy, and are living life in the slow lane. The Squad : Paint at least two minis which are from the same unit, group etc (or look like they could be). This might be one to relax the "number of models" rule for.(Saturday Morning) Cartoons : Paint a mini which is from an IP which has appeared in animation, or paint one as if it had done. Or, paint something using an 'animated' style, eg cell-shading. [This is not my idea. Some-one else suggested it in a previous month, but I like it so I'm suggesting it again.]
