I started to really notice it in my right eye, and my prescription confirmed that one is most definitely the wonky one.
Distance vision is fine though. Just the “yeah our eye muscles aren’t evolved for what we make them do” middle aged blindo.

With all the dice needed for 40k, do dice towers end up sounding like those aboriginal Australian rain stick things?

You know, I reckon if you built a tower tall enough. And the base contained those ring caps you got as a kid?
You could actually make your dice go dakkadakkadakkadakka.
Then it would be up to science to explain why such roles are always really great.

Nice one! Automatically Appended Next Post: EMERGENCY PET SITTING!!!
Nehploof’s Mam is in hospital to have her appendix out. All very sudden. So I’m currently looking after Lovely Slobbery Nephloof, Fatty Catty Harold, Nightmare, Lucipurr and Wee Neville.
First two are right slags for a fuss, and I was double handing it. Harry is my favourite cat, as he has no grace whatsoever. Kinda reminds me of Stimpleton J Cat.

Dropped into a couple of charity shops on my way home from delivering presents.
Managed to come away with 20 or so Commando comics! The sort of thing that was a summer holiday treat as a kid. Usually quite jingoistic, but bloody good fun to read.

I did my good deed for the holidays and donated books to a local charity that helps kids gain access to books to read for enjoyment.
And yes, I thought I would donate some Sci-fi, so I raided the local used bookstore and grabbed some stuff that I thought most adults wouldn't pick up.
I snagged Warhammer, Battletech, Star Trek, and a copy of the junior novelization of Mortal Kombat: Annihilation by Jerome Preisler.

Going out for a Christmas Curry with friends tomorrow, so today is the roast dinner.
Got a nice Smoked Gammon roasting, and just put the veg in. Goose Fat roasted Spuds, Parsnips and Carrots.
With half hour to go? I’ll be popping in an onion to roast too.

And with the able asssitantce of my lovely assistant Paul? That’s the telly cables also sorted.
Had to run them up the chimney breast, using a hole created (quite nicely to be honest) by the previous owner.
Three existing cables, and I needed to run three. Used cable ties to secure the new to the old, and pulled them up and through one by one. That bit I probably could’ve done on my own. But, then attaching the cables to the telly? Not a chance.
Has also allowed me to move my gaming consoles to the fireplace nook. All looking much more beat and tidy, innit.

My disabled son has a comfort/fear thing with going #2 on his potty, even at just shy of 10 years old. Last night he did PRECISELY that. Not sure he'll repeat it, but if there's a chance that he can be reasonably potty trained after the stroke and all the other nonsense from 2024, then I'll still count it as a little win.

It’s another bizarre one!
If you remember, and assuming I did post about it here? My big bin got annihilated during a storm. And so I ordered a new one from the council.
Said replacement bin has arrived! And it gave me great joy to put some crap in it. A fresh, clean bin, which has only ever known my home made rubbish. I don’t know why this brings me such joy, only that it has. I was doing my year-end review of Blood and Spectacles and was happy to see that I have 7 Copper selling titles on the Wargame Vault, with a couple other games ready to break into that category by the end of 2026.
Not bad for a no-name Indie hack from the middle of Nowhere, USA.

Moved, at my request, work streams at work.
Now back to proper fraud cases. I’ve a background in that, but not only do I need to refresh my knowledge, but learn a load of entirely new stuff, as I’m dealing with Business Fraud, rather than Individual customers.
There’s not a huge amount of difference, that’s true. But the differences, and why they’re differences absolutely are.
Nice to be learning new stuff, and not dealing with some of the worst dregs of humanity.

Today was amateur plumbing day in my kitchen.
I had to disassemble the drain piping under my sink to clean out a clog.
As its all modern screw together plastic I figured I could DiY it faster/cheaper than calling an actual plumber. (Unless the problem lies in the piping under the floor... it didn't).
I found the clogg in the 1st half of the piping sections.
But just to be thorough I took the rest apart, right down the bit sticking out of the floor & gave it all a good cleaning.
As everything is now draining properly & no joints are leaking after a thorough testing? And despite the "help" of the cat?
(The cat was very curious what the Hell i was doing. She is NOT a good plumbing assistant :( )
I'm going to call it a success.

Nice! I find it satisfying being able to do something like that myself. And YouTube makes it so much easier these days.
I had a plumbing adjacent win recently when our washing machine packed in. The error message this time was easy to interpret and £40 for a new drain pump and a couple of hours of fiddling guided by the mighty YouTube fixed it completely.
The magic smoke had escaped from our tumble drier a few weeks ago, so forking out for yet another new appliance would have been painful.

Nice bit of sun today, so took the broom out front and gave it a good sweeping. All sorts of odd and sods left over after winter now in the bin. Also able to get to the gas meter to give a proper reading.
