About as pretty as this guys going to get

Struggled with his face and bone sticking out his shoulder but calling him done.

Tried to get a slightly more grim dark than the GW scheme.

I think if I play about with some of the tones it might be a decent scheme

Thanks for the extra day, Nev. I didn't find the time to get started on these guys until this morning. (Proof pic back on page 2)

A Protoss colony world

Skulking across the finish line with a pretty phoned-in entry, here I am with some stealers of jeans:

These were not very enjoyable to paint at all, and part of that is the old-as-dirt sculpts with their mold lines all over the place (I scraped some of them but couldn't be arsed to do the ones on the claws and stuff) and soft details. That lack of enjoyment or engagement is why it took me a month to get them done, despite using basically all contrast-style paint (GW and Army Painter). Sad part is, I've still got 15 more of these lil' bastards that need paint.

I'm sure I can do something a bit more interesting for the traditional Space Marine month. Not sure what it'll be yet, but I've got so many Marine things that need paint that I'm spoiled for choice.

My armies (re-counted and updated on 11/7/24, including modeled wargear options):
Dark Angels: ~16000 Astra Militarum: ~1200 | Imperial Knights: ~2300 | Leagues of Votann: ~1300 | Tyranids: ~3400 | Stormcast Eternals: ~5000 | Kruleboyz: ~3500 | Lumineth Realm-Lords: ~700
Check out my P&M Blogs: ZergSmasher's P&M Blog | Imperial Knights blog | Board Games blog | Total models painted in 2024: 40 | Total models painted in 2025: 21 | Current main painting project: Warhammer 40k Leviathan set

The Grotsnik Corp Bump Feelerer 9,000. It only looks like several bricks crudely gaffer taped to a cricket bat.

@CancelledApoccalypse If you did get those marine finished, I can sneak you into the vote thread. I’d hate to exclude you because you were just a few minutes late after I finished my coffee. I did have a 3rd cup to draw it out as long as I could!

Am I too late? I thought we had two days grace this time?

Edit: Oh damn, no, I misread the extension

Maybe our high lord Nevelon could give you special dispensation to carry them forward to next month? They meet the criteria and I’d hate to see such lovely work go unrecognised.

I’ve added you to the poll, sorry if I wasn’t clear enough about the time. To be fair, giving the whole weekend as an extension, especially on the shortest month is the kind of thing I would do. Also, a surprise ending is very on-brand for the topic...

If you would like to enter them for March, I can remove you from the poll and you can repost them next month. But I’d prefer to see you paint new stuff. That pile of shame won’t paint itself! But your call.

Your last post implied that you might not even finish your entry, which is why I didn’t hold it open longer. I’ll wait longer for “done, just need pictures”. As it was I dragged my feet closing it for about 4 hours to give you more time. Sorry it wasn’t enough to get you in the poll thread when it went live.

Don't worry, Nev, it was my mistake - my own stupid fault for not reading more carefully. Leave it the way it is, I'll paint something fresh for March - maybe even the rest of this ten man veteran squad.

Thanks for adding me to the poll, anyway. Sorry to everyone for being late.
