I was unpacking some old models today, now that my house cleaning is complete, and I noticed that once we're pristine marines and SAS jeeps are now Sir Dusty and his allies. I can't figure out how to clean them.
I thought about using a can of compressed air to dust them, but I was afraid it might mess up the flock on the base.
Any suggestions?

I just put them under a tap. Just make sure you do not have any materials that may suffer from contact with water (for example with my old WFB armies I had to carefully protect paper banners during this process.
It is actually a very enjoyable experience, to see vibrant colours appear again, as after a lot of time you can forget what they used to look like fresh after painting

A regular puffy makeup brush works well for this. I would use one first to get the absolute worst of the dust off before using water as well to get the final bits off that are in the cracks and so forth.

If you’ve an airbrush? That and a soft makeup brush should see you right.

A photographic lens brush is handy, one with a built in air bulb for a quick blast.

I just blow on them. Purse my lips to avoid spit getting on the minis, done.
But I seem to remember the Warhammer World team using makeup brushes or something, as I read in the Warhammer World photo book my friend let me flip through

I have a lot of minis on open bookshelves in a quiet room so the dust builds up.
I used a very large, soft make up brush or soft bristle paint brush to get the bulk of the dust off.
Then I use a smaller brush with firmer bristles to get into the cracks and clean out the weird little angles.
I might have to look into getting a camera lens brush...

Why? They aren't made of soluble material. Paint isn't either, when dry (for example you can't save a pot of dried up paint by adding water).
Dry dusting (brush or blowing) removes a lot of the accumulated dust but doesn't bring back original, vibrant colours, like washing in water does. Just try and compare.

This is going to sound stupid, but how do you wash the feet near the base? I have some models based with modeling flock, and I was under the impression not to get that wet.

Flock like the coloured wood sawdust that is awful at pretending it's miniature grass? I haven't seen this stuff since the 90's
Superglued sand and stones, static grass, they all do fine underwater.
As I said, don't take my word for it, try it out and compare.

Not all of my miniatures are brand new. Sadly some of them are old enough to run for political office.
I kinda miss the days of green flock on all the bases... back before the dark days. Back before the coming of the tactical rock.

Nothing stopping you from flocking. I still do. The green flock I have is vintage, still in use from the early 90s.
Flock around and find out!
