Another excellent episode. I am eagerly awaiting the finale.
Great to see a xenomorph in proper daylight for once as well. I continue to enjoy and appreciate the man-in-a-rubber-suit alien. They clearly haven't skimped on the practical effects for this show.
Kirsh continues to be the best character on the show.
The fellas playing Slightly and Smee deserve some sort of award for their acting in this. They continue to absolutely nail the kids in adult bodies aspect of their characters.

You typed the same words as I for Slightly and Smee.
Which raises the question.
Which of us is the sock puppet?
Automatically Appended Next Post: Also, on Slightly, Smee and Arthur?
Spoiler:
They’re going to miss Arthur. Throughout the whole show? He seems to be the only one that’s truly remembered they’re still children.
And he treated them as such, albeit in a respectful, non-judgemental manner.
He knows they did something, but of course not what. If he’s angry, he hides it very well. He’s matter of fact, getting a nice mix of stern but comforting into his talks with them.
I’m also enjoying Dame Sylvia being just the right level of frazzled. She’s in over her head, but is still committed to helping the Hybrids. Which feels like a not uncommon parental experience.
Boy Kavalier is living up to his name, and needs to come a cropper from something. It’s high time he Farted On His Weetabix.

Another great episode, though I am also slightly concerned there's only one to go and there's a lot of threads left hanging. I'd be shocked if this doesn't get another season so maybe that's not a big problem.
Spoiler:
This show is rapidly becoming a study of what it means to be a kid/adult. We have Nibs going crazy thanks to the trauma of the rescue mission, leaving her to crack completely and be uncontrollable thanks to her android body. Then with have Smee and Slightly handling the Arthur situation completely differently, with Smee showing the kind of childish naivety you'd expect from, well, a child and Smee showing the lack of moral compass and empathy you'd also expect from an emotionally immature child. Then there's Curly, who has definitely been oddly underused after the first half of the season, refusing to see the worst in BK. Speaking of, as the supposed adult in charge, BK is showing even older people can still act like kids. Everything he's done is akin to a child with a "me, me, me - now, now, now" attitude.
Kirsh remains the best character. Still not entirely sure about his plan, but he almost seems like the only actual adult in the room most of the time. Interestingly, the first time we see Wendy she's interacting with Kirsh and it occurs to me that she's basically becoming him. There's no emotion there at all and every decision seems to be based on cold, calculated logic, with just a hint of superiority in the way she callously released the xenomorph in the lab, as if she doesn't see the other scientists as anything better than the specimens they were experimenting on.
One minor quibble with the eyeball. How did BK know it would understand our numbers/writing system? Yes, it's been observing for a while, but there's no way it would be able to decipher our writing system without context and BK's explanation was just to point at the number and vaguely gesture in a circular motion. Not a major thing, but that stuck out to me in an otherwise great episode.
I think that might be BK just having read too many books on aliens.
I assume that when Shawn grafted to the engineer he picked up some of his knowledge, hence understands English, can recognise Pi as a number rather than the ratio on a circle that we would actually show an alien.
Interesting episode this time. As the penultimate one, with so much left to resolve, I was surprised it was also one of the shorter (or the shortest?) ones.
At this point I've completely lost my bearings on what we should and shouldn't put under "spoilers" here. I mean, anyone who's browsing this thread for this long must have already made up their mind to either watch the show or not, yes? I guess I'll just put what I have today under "spoiler" just in case.
Spoiler:
I actually think we're not going to get a big bloodbath (of named significant characters) in the final episode, and that many of the characters will survive. I always thought Wendy would, but now I also think Slightly, Curly, Nibs, and maybe even Smee (no, I don't believe she's dead) will also make it. I think Wendy's brother lives, too.
I confess I don't have any idea who Mr. Eyeball will end up in, or who Kavalier has in mind. What I don't want to see is the Eyeball end up in Kavalier and immediately start speaking fluent English, with full control of his memories, and end up just carrying on as Prodigy's leader. Eyeball's first human occupation was, shall we say, verbally challenged. I'm not saying I'd mind if it gradually learned to communicate in English, but if becomes fluent immediately, that's just too much of a plot hole for me. Part of Eyeball's appeal is that while it's intelligent and devious, it's also inscrutable. I don't want it to suddenly become a loquacious, mustache-twirling Bond villain.
(Eyeball knowing what our number symbols mean annoyed me too, although the idea that it got that knowledge from a former human host is a good one.)
If I were Kavalier I'd put Eyeball in Morrow. Morrow's an enemy prisoner and he has a cybernetic interface, which could allow for some measure of electronic monitoring and control. This being Alien, any attempt to control or limit Mr. Eyeball electronically would of course fail and go horribly wrong, essentially resulting in an Eyeball Morrow even more devious than cyborg Morrow was, and giving Eyeball a weaponized human body to boot. Speaking of which, if I were Eyeball and fully informed about all my potential human hosts, I'd definitely choose Morrow for his enhanced capabilities. But Morrow hadn't been captured when Kavalier was musing on who to put Eyeball in, nor was Kavalier aware of Kirsh's imminent plan to capture him. Which basically leaves the brother (I doubt it,) Dame psychotherapist (Why?,) and Atom Eins, who would seem like a good choice, but who was present while Kavalier was talking about putting Eyeball in a human, making that choice a bit odd. And as others have commented, Eins could still prove to be a synth. (Or a cyborg I suppose.)
I think there's a pretty good chance that Eyeball will, through mishap, opportunism, and planning, end up taking Boy Kavalier himself, giving him his comeuppance while preserving the actor and, to a degree, the Kavalier character for future episodes. Again, whether that works for me or not depends on how they handle it. As I said, if Eyeball just rises from the floor as Kavalier like Doctor Who getting up as a new regeneration and immediately begins verbally making sarcastic jokes and ordering people around, ouch. Doesn't work for me. I'm not down with Eyeball immediately, literally, and especially verbally becoming the Joker of the Alien universe.
If Kavalier doesn't get the Eyeball, I'll stick my neck out and say he could survive the last episode. Kirsh definitely survives, in my opinion. There are too many layers to that synth left to reveal.
In fact, I now find it harder to imagine who will get killed than who will survive. Dame and Atom seem like the most likely candidates to kick the bucket in the next episode, and maybe Smee too, to push Slightly further over the edge and down his dark path. But damned if a future season featuring a darker Slightly and no Smee doesn't sound like a lot less fun to watch.
Which brings me to the last character needing more development: the Plant. I originally thought the Plant would play a key role in an apocalyptic burn-Neverland-down final episode, but now I'm thinking that the director might just leave it mysterious as a still-ticking timebomb to explore next season. Which, don't get me wrong, would be pretty annoying. After Mr. Eyeball, the Plant has the greatest potential to demonstrate surprising agency and intelligence, as well as whatever horrible, invasive, and disgusting body horror things it turns out to be capable of.
In general, if the show continues I hope they will take advantage of the fact that for all they've revealed about the other four aliens and their capabilities, we still really know very little about them. There's no reason they have to decide any of them are "done" and just move on.
I guess I don't see Hermit dying because I struggle to see where they'd take Wendy in a future series if she went full-on identifying as inhuman. She's already using the xenomorph to kill enemy humans, seemingly with very little troubling her conscience. If the brother dies, she loses her tie to her humanity and becomes a flatter character.
Anyhow, I'm sure the show will prove me wrong.

On Eye Ball Paul?
Spoiler:
We’re not currently sure just how extensively Morrow has been modified. But, we did see him use head connection cables to rapidly download all the Maginot’s files.
That suggests at least some cranial gubbins inside his melon.
So…perhaps Eye Ball Paul does try to mesh with Morrow, only to fry them both?

Regarding spoilers, OK then, I'll stick with using them.
Spoiler:
I don't disagree that he's got electronic gubbins in his head, but I think it's pretty clear that he still has plenty of grey matter as well. If the writer wants to go there, I'd expect that they'd make it work, although the mix of human and electronic matter would perhaps open up the possibility for Eyeball not to take total control but rather end up in some ambiguous state with the original resident that they could make a lot of plot hay out of. It's hard to imagine them destroying Morrow's original character and motivations completely, because they're what make him compelling as a villain. Anyhow, I'm just speculating; there's no indication yet that a Morrow / Eyeball fusion is likely. For one thing, Kavalier didn't know Kirsh was closing in on nabbing Morrow, and he seemed to have some other particular person in mind for eyeball transplantation.
Which leads me to ask you folks, anyone got a good hunch on who Kavalier has in mind?

Hermit does seem the obvious choice but what a bout Curly?
We haven’t seen as much of her. It would be a new shiney thing - a hybrid-alien combination. I can see BK using her desire to impress him to fuel his ego. Dame would obviously want to protect Curly, which is another source of dramatic tension.
My gripe with this episode is the the Xenomorph is a bit too Killy when fighting NPC soldiers.
I agree with your gripe, there was none of the situational limitations from the other films. Fortunately the series is good enough for me to overlook minor suspension of disbelief.
Also good to see (and briefly hear!) the good old M41A pulse rifle!

Spoiler:
Making it Curly would be Boy Kavalier's creepiest possible choice (given Curly's faith in him and need to impress him) and constitute the biggest betrayal. It hasn't been established that Eyeball is capable of possessing anything synthetic yet, though, and I think some serious explaining would be in order if they decide to make that possible. I think the flies will remain the hybrid's and synth's special nemesis.
I also agree with your gripe. It reminds me of a phrase that goes something like "One Ninja is a deadly threat, 100 ninjas are a breeze." The swarms of aliens in Aliens - or Romulus, for that matter - were nowhere near as deadly against armed humans as individual xenomorphs have been in Alien Earth.

Yeah, I doubt the eyeball will prove capable of inhabiting a synth.
Atom did seem like the obvious candidate given the way the scene was cut, and the fact he was right there in the room.
Hermit is the next most likely, although I'm pretty sure that at this point Boy was aware of Hermit having absconded with Wendy, so wouldn't be seen as an immediately available candidate. And as mentioned Atom is, like, right there...
Although- the eyeball's nutritional requirements are clearly minimal- the cat didn't eat much of anything, and the sheep seems to be eating infrequently (by sheep standards). The amount of brain and organic tissue required for eyeball to function seems minimal as the cat worked just fine. For that matter, it remained hostless for an indefinite period of time. Depending on the nutrient level in the white synthblood, it's entirely possible it can inhabit a synth body. For more disturbing- there's every possibility that doing so wouldn't necessarily diable the synth's mind. We've already seen grievously damaged synths rebooted. Can you imagine the eyeball partially controlling a synth body, while the child/host intelligence is pleading for mercy and help, and trying to fight against it? Bloody disturbing, and a natural bridge for the Eye to learn our language, with a captive translator. That being said, there's no way all of that's getting explored in the last episode
