Hi all

I think this is a modified/licenced version of Horizon Wars.

https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/modiphius/hardwar-miniature-mech-wargame

A lot of the models being sold are based off old Antenocities Workshop STLs.

There are a couple of really close Battletech proxies, the "Razorbach" LRM carrier and "Syndicate" Buran (no its definately not an urbie!).

Please excuse any spelling errors. I use a tablet frequently and software keyboards are a pain!

Nice models, some of the nicest "american mechs" I've seen, tbh, and I've been actively looking for an IP free mech range. No STLs tho?

Thanks - the team have been working hard to remaster the models and do all new paint jobs. We also decided to have all the 'models' unlocked day 1, and we're just unlocking more of the terrain. We went for a frontier farming settlement with some sci-fi upgrades instead of the usual big mech bay/corporate buildings to offer something different.

We decided not to offer STLs because Strato Minis (who we bought the range from) had a big sale of STLs before we acquired the brand and we really wanted to focus on supplying high-quality physical models from our resin factory in the UK - it's the same one that does our Mass Effect, Fallout and Skyrim miniatures

Strato Minis worked with Robey Jenkins on the core mechanics then streamlined a lot of it to what they wanted for Hardwar. If you know Horizon Wars you'll know some of the core mechanics but it does diverge in places. One of the sculptors set of vehicles were previously seen in 32mm scale with Antenocities but we've got a much wider range and are leaning more in to mech, tanks and flyer combined arms.

Am watching this. I've got alot of 10mm sci-fi units that would work for a game like this.

Nice to hear, as refinement is always good. The sculpts Antenocities released are so lovely its great to see them get more use out in the wild. I love how some of the components have been switched about, mashed up and rescaled to give a different vibe or a new unit type.

The core book has simple rules to build your own stats for your existing models

I like what I'm hearing about the rules, and the minis look decent as well, even if they are somewhat BT derivative...

Are these products cast resin or 3D printed resin?

I really love the farm terrain set. Not sure if I need another ~100 miniatures though lol.

The QP rules look good, the models and terrain look fantastic. I'd be all over this, except... it's Modiphius.

I missed out on the Infinity RPG KS, but was busy buying up the supplements and books for a game. Modiphius let me know by email that the Core Rule Book that was out of stock would be reprinted. My pals and I usually have a Core book for whatever we play for myself (the always DM) and a few for the group. PDF's are no use as we're all around 50 and reading rulebooks on phones, squinting, is not how we want to spend our gaming sessions. We're still awaiting for this so called reprint to be done. It appears by stock of everything else, it's now a 'dead game' and I have about £200 of supplements and adventures without a rule book.

So, despite the temptation, I'm just not going to get into any Modiphius game ever, as they appear to have a very short purchase window and lifetime. I'd hate to buy a set of Hardwar, paint it up, then get some pals into it, only to find it's also dead. I learned my lesson and I'm £200+ down for my part with this company.

Spoiler:
This was the first batch of money wasted with Modiphius.
Core Rulebook reprint my ass.

Currently most played: Silent Death, Mars Code Aurora, Battletech, Warcrow and Infinity.

I don't know anything about the game, the Kickstarter, how popular it is/was, or what its status is with Modiphius, so I can't help with any of that.

But why not just get the PDF and print out a copy? It's not as fancy as a glossy hardback, and it won't solve issues about whether or not they continue to release new material for the game, but at least you could play it, instead of letting your other books go to waste.

They're resin - produced in our UK factory, which also makes the Mass Effect, Fallout and Skyrim miniatures. There is also a reward that includes just the STL files to print at home

The team are looking in to the reprint still but it's a little more boring and long-winded in that the factory that printed it went bust and the freelance designer who did the layout left the country so we're trying to recover the layout files. Also looking at an edit but that would delay it further. At the very least once we do we can set it up for print on demand and give you a free credit to get the book.

Hm... at least for the bolded part you should be able to get the layout files form the companies that did the localized editions, like for example Nosolorol for the Spanish language edition.

Thanks for replying and letting me know the situation. I had (maybe wrongly) assumed that the lack of any reprints were due to expiry of licensing rights.
A Print On Demand version (especially if a hardback is available) would be an excellent solution. Thank you.
