I'm back from my first game and my brain is fried

The activation battle is real and brutal, and with the elite Marauders I was on the losing side in every phase vs Plague, always having to commit everything while my opponent saved his best to counter me. Along with rolling about a 3.0 average on D8s, it ended up with a tabling by turn 4.

The various action tokens work exceptionally well however, very clear and clean.

The old meta is dead and the new meta struggles to be born. Now is the time of munchkins.

dice aside, did you enjoy it overall? Most importantly, are you eager for a re-match?

Yes, I will burn the mantic dice and play again. I have no complaints about the rules so far, and I do love to complain. It's only a matter of getting a feel for the activation system and the balance between killing and scoring (i.e how much of your force is worth sacrificing to take a 3VP objective for 1 round, etc)

My only worry is that I will have to play with the local hardcore Blood Bowl group (who got into EWP en masse for some reason) and not my casual group, it might be too unforgiving for them.

I am not sure of international availability but this month's Miniature Wargames magazine has a free sprue of Enforces on the cover and a good feature on the game & hobby side.

I checked my local Barnes & Noble, was sad it was not there. would love to paint up a few Enforcers to see if I enjoy them as much as my Marauders (which is a lot!)

Finished some Assault tanks for my Marauders. A definite pleasure to paint. C&C welcomed.

Nice! Remember that these come in units of 2!

Oh man, THAT is why a helpful post suggested three entries in a unit list. I was confused, I totally missed that. Thank you for reminder.

We had an awesome first game. Just so much fun.

Forge vs. Marauders. I could not crack the Forge tanks and walkers, not with only 1 AP. But it was a close match for a while, I had more units to grab objectives. We did 1255 points each.

Very much looking forward to more.

The system is smooth and we learned most rules in several hours. What are your first game take-aways?

No Wolverines in your list? One of the classic blunders

My second game is scheduled for the 8th, and I'm bringing the Wolfcrawler mech.

I only had the basic box so far, but I have a lot of Marauder reinforcements now. My friend printed me a bunch.

Had an excellent second game

2000 pts Marauders vs Plague with 1 superheavy each

The activation game was brutal again, 12 drops to 18, so I had to commit everything before Plague decided anything important.

I had a "one of everything" list, Plague tried a shooty list of mostly Ghoul and HMG Ghoul spam and loads of indirect fire, pressuring me to push forward. We had deployment with armies split in half in diagonally opposite corners. To my surprise, this turned out to be advantageous for me, as I bum rushed the weaker enemy corner with both of mine, and plentiful transports allowed me to evade his strong stuff. Took down the Colossus fairly quickly, finishing it with a lucky shot from a plucky lone Wolverine. Plague did an excellent job gaming the particularities of the action system, like repeatedly forcing my superheavy to waste its fire on overwatch against weak chargers, and sniping my command via creative LOS blocking, but failed every such potshot.

We played a mission with kill points and 5 dynamic objectives that only activate from round 3 onwards, and this felt like the perfect balance between scoring and killing. Ended up losing by a hair with 26 to 27 VP, with only both my commands intact (Wolfcrawler and Rippermech), while Plague still had a fair few units. I did completely bungle the Skyscrapers' dynamic entry as I didn't register the Plague Lord lurking behind a terrain piece and he immediately ripped them to shreds, so I forfeited a kill point there by accident.

Plague dice weren't that hot today, but made up for it by consistently rolling 3-4 more command points than I, although you'd be surprised how often they re-rolled snake eyes into another snake eyes.

I do like the dynamic objective feel -- we tried that in our first game too. Thanks for the battle report!
