I've got a plan, need some input.

I'm one of those old-school guys that still has his Imperial Guard Heavy weapons teams on their own bases. I pretty much refuse to rip them off their bases to rebase them, especially the metal ones with that used slotted bases. Yes, this leads to some rules issues on occasion.

So, I'm planning on making some drop-in conversion bases (no glue required) with my 3D printer (ask for the file, I'll freely give it). The biggest issues are with the guys that came on the 24x49mm rectangular bases. My plan there is to use a 56mm circle. It will end up having the very tips of the rectangle poke out in order to get the second guy on a 25mm base to fit on as well, but that shouldn't be a huge issue. Would have been a lot easier if GW hadn't switched them from 60mm bases.

Anyone seeing any issues with this idea?

In casual games no.

In tournament games I would contact tge organizers to get their opinion.
How far does the corner stick out. Would you think it is enough to gain a range advantage or is it obvious/clear were to measure to and from on the adapter bases?

It's clear where to measure to. By "corner", I mean just a couple millimeters. It makes just enough room for a 25mm basr to slip in beside it.

Maybe some multi-leveling could be the answer?

I figure the models with the rectangle bases are the missile launcher teams so having the loader on lower ground would make sense and allow for some base overlap

Echoing this. If you're just throwing down with pals at the game store, it's unlikely to be an issue.

If you're going to a tournament, ask the TOs.
