Those look like Salamanders Assault Terminators to me!

Yep. But according to some of the feedback I've gotten here, I should be wary of buying these awesome models since they are HH models and not usable to play at stores.

You're taking posts that responded to different examples as the same response to the query.

Nobody is going to have a whinge at you using Firedrakes as TH/SS Assault Terminators because they've got the exact same loadouts.

People will likely have a whinge if you're mixing Firstborn HH models and Primaris models in the same army if the Firstborn are proxies for Primaris units.
They will 100% complain if you're mixing them in the same unit.

The only actual advice/opinions concerning this that you should be worried about is that of:
A) the managers at you're local store.
B) the people you actually play with

Gotcha. I understand now.

I wouldn't, especially if we're talking about veterans units like Sternguard. I refuse to believe that every Sternguard Veteran is Primaris. Or is someone going to try to convince me that every Firstborn Veteran has been reassigned to the Vanguard Veterans?

I really hate to say this, but it seems Chaos Marines don't have this dumb model problem.

That's great for you, unfortunately you aren't every other person in the hobby. I'm giving that advice based on rules and experiences I've had outwith my immediate circle of mates alongside the rules for GW/adjacent events.

I'm not saying that you should only ever use models out of the box. What I am saying is that if Player A has an army of Space Marines with Firstborn and Primaris, and it turns out that all the Firstborn are proxies for Primaris, that's going to need to be explained every single game.
This is a recommendation because your opponent shouldn't have to spend time remembering what your proxies are.

CSM don't have Primaris. Everything that is a Space Marine is Firstborn regardless of model choice.
