Are you even a wizard if you don’t take all the bad advice from your familiar?

Congratulations on graduating from the wizard’s academy. Here are your robes, spellbook, and little buddy who’s going to enable all your bad decisions. Have fun out there!

Wish the EU store had a better supply line, so some of these monthly offers were worth trying for. Last time I tried was a world of disappointment.

ALWAYS cast Fireball indoors! It's how you maximize your efficiency. Also: it's easier to get your targets clustered together.

It wasn't our fault the orphanage burned down... or the market... or the... yes? The Wizard? Yeah, it was the Wizard.

If they were actually important, they would have had more hit points...

What's the Challenge Rating of an orphan? How does it compare to that of a kobold?

9 HP on an orphan?!

I guess it depends on edition but I would say if a 0 level human civilian is 1-6 HP then a child ought to be 1-3 HP, a bit lower than a Kobold's 1-4 HP.

It's a hard knock life for orphans. That means lots of xp?

That's not an orphan, that's a street urchin. That kid's got levels.

A "living in an orphanage" orphan is going to be Commoner 1, if not outright CR0 with 1HP.

Orphans are super dangerous because they can be any level or class type.

Technically, Batman is an Orphan.

Also, their size can be a red herring. I have it on good authority that the notorius criminal known by the handle "Little Orphan Annie" is actually a middle aged halfling crime boss with compromising information on Daddy Warbucks forcing him to fund her lifestyle. Allegedly.

And somehow it is May! Which means NEW STUFF!

This month's freeby is called "The Pickpocket" which as far as I can tell shows a nimble Ogre thief about to snatch a coin purse from a passing giant. The included halfling model is unrelated.

Next we have a "Bathalian", Reaper's wholly original line of squid-headed Brain Slicers, who are just the folks you should have if you need any Psychic Shredding done or have a scenario involving Thought Tearing.

And a Giant Lizard (Large), which implies there is a whole line of Giant Lizards coming from Extra-Small to Titanic.

Reaper now has so many Yetis they actually need to make a Yeti Champion to lead them.

https://www.reapermini.com/search/yeti

Can the Yeti king be far behind? Then the Yeti Queen, the Yeti Court, and Yeti peasants? The Summer of Yetis is coming!

As a reminder, Himalayan Yeti models can also be used as North American Sasquatches (also known as Big Feet) but the conversion can be challenging for rookie modellers.

Skeleton Hounds. Now I want to make a Lich with his feet up by the fire and a pair of skeleton hounds munching on a bone. Maybe their own bones.

Not much to say about the Cave Troll, sometimes you just need the basics.

Oddly enough Monstrous Crayfishes (Large) are a major feature in White Plume Mountain which I was just writing a Retro Review about. Other than someone running an updated version of that classic I'm not sure who'd need one, but if you do, here one is!

Great Worms will always help the party catch Monstrous Crayfish, they're just cool that way. Great guys.

Reaper is doing updated versions of some of their classics. I always liked their invisible wraiths, it was sign that Reaper was doing original things with miniatures rather than combinations of guy with sword, guy with staff and guy with bow.

I like that troll. Got to remember to check for stock when I order from my favorite online stores.

I really like the halfling reappropriator and ogre. I wonder how big the ogre is given the size next to the halfling. Either the halfling is a bit bigger or the ogre is 1980s Ral Partha 25mm sized.

The ogre is sitting on a tree stump which makes him look shorter than he is. I don't think he's especially small.

My best guess is that his scenic base fills out a 40mm base.

True. My guess is still that he's old school scaled which isn't necessarily a problem as I do have their ogre porter who fits on a 25mm base (minus the wagon of course) and love that fig.

I hate it when players are too lazy to base their miniatures. At least GW did that back in the day when they released the Frodo with the One Ring on mini.

Yeah, we had a local during WHFB who (for a while) ran the joke of invisible Spirit Hosts for his Vampire Counts by just taking empty bases and flocking them.

Eventually he was politely told that he can't get away with that anymore.

Why? I think that is super clever.

Those skeletal dogs are mis-labelled. They are actually skeletal werewolves in wolf form.
