How do!
So we’ve a new edition in the offing. And as we’ve seen for previous cycles we can reasonably expect most armies to get some refreshed/resculpted kit. And this thread is for your predictions.
My main prediction is the Tau Tanks. Whilst I’m a dedicated Sad Old Git*, and the Tau are still considered new in the foetid morass that is my brain? The Devilfish chassis is seriously knocking on a bit. Why, it’s quite possibly older than some Dakkanauts.
And so it’s my prime candidate for a refresh in the non-Marine ranks. I don’t think there’s anything wrong with the aesthetic, but even going right back to release it’s been a tricky one to get the top and bottom of the main hull all nice and flush.
Right, your turn.

As odd as it feels to say it, Eldar are in a pretty good spot. I think 11th will be pretty phoned in for them. I’d guess we get a new Kandross to round out the PLs, and a new box of Dire Avengers, as they are getting real long in the tooth, and show it. Unlike the Falcon, which is also ancient, but hold up well. Plus if they redo that, they will probably need to rejigger all the grav tanks, and that’s a non trivial job.
For Nids I’m going to bet on it being the edition of the winged bioforms. Gargoyles could use a refresh like their ground based cousins. We could also use winged warriors/shrikes.
While probably composed of pure hopium, I’d like to see the marine range get consolidated and the return of tac and dev squads. Intercessors were out in 8th, it’s been a few years. If they add a ML or HB in there, count the AGL as a special weapon and we are back to tactical marines. I’d like to see hellblasters/infernus/desolators/etc brought back to the old school and treated as options for Dev squads. Go to the 30k option of having a gun sprue of special/heavy weapons that you apply to basic marine bodies.
More likely we’ll probably get Vanguard Vets. Maybe some of the characters/units that were bundled on sprues from prior starters.

Oh no; I’m well aware we are going to get a ton of kits. Most of which we do not want or need. But the bulk of the releases will be new kits. The question posed in this thread was about resculpts. So existing things getting new models. At least that was my read.

Fuelled by pure hopium I will say that the Drukhari will have a massive range upgrade similar to what they got during the 5th edition with only their vehicles being retained as well as Wracks, Talos/Chronos, the Incubi and the Archon and maybe the Hoemonculus being retained and everything else getting updated with new miniatures for the Grotesques, the beastmaster and beastmaster pack, a return of Vect on a bigger badder Dais of Destruction (think Tantalus chassis instead of Ravagers). They will be the 11th edition poster villains and not the strongly (and much more plausibly) Orks. Realistically, they might get the Grotesque back and that's pretty much it.
Craftworld will get Karandras and maybe a psychic wraithlord kit upgrade, but nothing else.
Orks will get the Ork Warboss which we have already seen, a looted tank style vehicle and new gretchins and squig packs.
Tyranids will, at long last, get the Shrikes back and updated gargoyles.
Guards will get the Catashan revamp.
Votann will gain jump troops and a pure fighting medium weight tank and shield and gun infantry unit.
Emperor's children will get their own special brand of human cultist or non-Astartes unit. Wolrd-Eaters will get the regular Juggernaught cavalry. Death Guard will get plague Ogryns or something similar. Thousand Sons will get a massively mutated Rubric Marine (like what would have happened had Ahriman not reduced them to dust).
Space Marines will get a million thing despite me being incapable of telling you what they could possibly need in their range.
Chaos Marines will get a lot of new stuff that I can't imagine right now but will involve new Bikers.
Adeptus Mechanicus will start getting new robots and a heavy tank and a large size infantry close combat servitor unit.
Sisters of Battle will get their shooty Celestian back and a Canoness with shield.
Necrons will be snubbed and receive one new Cryptek type and that's it. It would be nice if they got a bigger badder spider canoptek units and maybe a resurrection of the Pariah as some sort of anti-warp specialised Lychguards, but I have a bad feeling about them for some reason.
Genestealer Cults will get yet another character. Brood brothers will have a dedicated sheet to make them a little bit more elite than the neophytes and they will get a Leman Russ variant.

I actually think they will redo the tactical squad for primaris. But give it a slightly different spin.
ie it has a limited range of weapon options rather than every heavy or special weapon to choose from.
They could even come up with new weapons that complement being a rifle unit, like chain bolt cannons, or multiplasma lasers or whatever.
but the tactical squad is too iconic to the identity of the marines to disappear. They've spent most of the last few years releasing normal marine units but primaris, they've stopped with aggressors and the jump guys.
The last dumb unit they released were the nerf rocket guys. Which suck and I hope disappear down a hole with the dreadknight and centurions.
The only models eldar have that are not from the last 10 years are the tanks, wraithlord, war walker and dire avengers I believe (the wraithguard might be slightly older than 10 years?).
I'd love to see them release two wraithlords, one that is close assault with the seer character upgrade and one with long range and an autarch/war hero upgrade.
Orks need a lot, so pretty much anything not new.

I can see the Falcon chassis receiving an update, and the four kits that entails.
As we’ve discussed before, despite its age and simplicity the kits do more or less still hold up. So I wouldn’t be upset if they don’t come. But man, that hull is now easily 30 years old. There’s Dakkanauts that have wound up with Grandchildren since that kit came out!

With modern sprue layout they could probably fit all the grav tanks into one box, and still be on 2 frames of plastic. Maybe even with room for a little bit extra, to add a new option to make sure they can sell to old players. It’s definately an option, even for a “Codex and a character” support level edition. If we didn’t desperately need the DA’s redone, it would have been my guess. Who knows, we might get both. I could see the avengers getting done via KT, which would leave the codex release slot for the tanks.

That thought crossed my mind as I was thinking about what new option they could add. However I do think that GW is quietly trying to sweep the whole “flyers” thing under the rug and forget about it. I doubt we’ll see a dedicated AA tank again. Outside of maybe 30k, and xenos don’t get to play there.

Could do a Warp Hunter instead, with a massive Distortion Cannon, or D-Cannon.
The original Epic one was almost Orky in execution, with the tank chassis clearly being built around the cannon.
With the Falcon pilot deck being offset to the left (or right, depending on your perspective) there is room to fit a massive sodding cannon on there.
Actually, now I think about it? I’m fairly sure there was a FW model exactly like that?

Wouldn’t necessarily be a big piece of plastic. Forgeworld one looks to mount directly onto the hull, replacing the turret entirely. Turned to plastic I can see that comfortably fitting on a single full sized sprue, perhaps with a weapon option (Vibro Cannon maybe?)

I didn’t mean it’s not possible. My brain is still thinking you could get all the bits for a Falcon/ WS/ FP/ NS onto 2 sprues to fit into a box. It would be one thing to toss a normal sized gun to give the Falcon an option besides the pulse laser as its main weapon. Not that much sprue real estate needed.
But that honken big gun? Probably require as much space as the fire prism parts.
Not impossible, but how much we cramming into one box?
If they keep the tanks spread over multiple boxes like they do now, not an issue though.

The Falcon kit is ancient, but I hope that if they redo it they do what they did with the Leman Russ and Chimera chassis. Basically the same thing, but clean it up, crisp-up the lines, add a bit of detail, and tidy up the sprues for more options.
The current Falcon is so spread out that if it was put in a more modern pattern I bet they could get it on 1.5 large sprues instead of 2, and maybe less than that. That could leave enough room so that they could throw all the Wave Serpent parts on there too and have a single combi-box.

With the respect to the classic looks they’ve had when updating the rest of the range, I have high hopes that they will keep things looking good and not mess it up. Don’t want to jinx things, but so far so good with the pointy eared updates.

Defo as a second kit. Spesh if you’re putting a second or third main weapon option in there.
Second as mentioned likely Vibro-Cannon (again, I think FW did such a kit?), third could be a Heavy Pulse Laser? Warwalker / Wasp and Support Weapon for the Eldar.
With Corsairs back in the game the Wasp would be an easy addition while at the same time updating a classic Craftworld unit. The Support weapon is cool but it's base is hidden under the model's bulk and it's a choice whether you have the second gunner on a separate stand or attached to the platform itself - I can see it on a single base like the Field Ordnance Battery, and likewise sold in pairs.

There was a chunky Armorcast version, a scaled up version of the original epic model (with no extra detail for the size). The D-cannon duties were moved to the super-heavy Cobra tank.

My thoughts/desires
Tyranids:
Warriors. A few things could happen here. They could update the kit and strip out a lot of the close combat parts and replace them with wings. Letting you build either shrieks or warriors.
Another option is they split Warriors into 3 separate kits. One kit for ranged; one for close combat and one that's the shrieks. That one actually mirrors the current way they've done the unit profiles and GW does seem more fond right now of more kits over duel kits in general.
At least one new Carnifex kit. This will either be a new updated generic build model with all the parts; or another named variation with a mono/limited pose like the screamer killer. It could even be the screamer killer being split out of the easy-build sprue it shares right now.
At least one new Warrior Prime with different weapons - probably ranged focus considering we've wings and close combat right now.
The above is what I think is likely to happen at some point; as for dreams it would be nice to see fresh plastic hierodules or a Malanthrope. Both very functional FW kits that GW even made more functional when the duels went from superheavy to heavy - and then retired the kits.
New Gargoyles would be nice but the current kit is fairly modern. They are almost more in a "new edition frivolous update" slot than "really needs a new kit"
Necrons - Destroyer Lord and new Lokhust Destroyers. Considering one is gone and the others are still rocking the old plastic clear tubes I'm still surprised they were not updated with the main update or following on. That would update the entire Necron core line to modern plastics.
After that named characters and The Deciever would be high on the list. Heck most of the named characters are lord-sized so could easily be one-off additional kits
As for a big range update (without being or being part of the starter set); I'd put my money on either Tau or Dark Eldar. Dark Eldar feel like they need it a LOT more, but Tau feel like they are in that same position Necrons and Tyranids were just before they got their updates. Orks also feel like they are in that position too.
