I had that joke in my head as I made my post. Thanks for beating Lathe to it.

Leave them packed up, but this time I put tape on the box RIP. Tournament 40K is too greasy for me.

I'm both orderly and rational. I value control, information, and order. I love structure and hierarchy, and will actively use whatever power or knowledge I have to maintain it. At best, I am lawful and insightful; at worst, I am bureaucratic and tyrannical.

It's rare that I agree and disagree so strongly with a statement.

"Rules are ephemeral, Models endure."
100 percent agree, but I would instead follow it with...

"At the end of the day rules are just the guidelines by which we play with they models we love."

Models are so much more than tokens for me. They're the reason I'm in this hobby.

Oh I love the models too, I just mean as far as playing the game is concerned it makes very little difference whether the rules for "space marine intercessor" are attached to a physical model of a Space Marine Intercessor or a physical model of a Tactical Marine.

So collect the models you want and wrap the rules around them

... When they are moved to legends?

For the purpose of this thread we're assuming 11th will be the squatting of all or nearly all firstborn figures and most of their vehicles. This has been happening for a while, but what will you do with your Firstborn when none of them are in a codex anymore?

I will continue to play with them in non-competitive events.

I know it's different depending on your local community, but for the most part, all our local events that are not competitive tournaments, save one, allow Legends models and we've never had an issue at one on a rules front.

GW's official stance is the same, Legends are fine in all non competitive tournament games.

Legends models having to get mothballed is a largely self imposed perception.

Yeah, Legends is way more about ensuring the tournament meta doesn't include models that new players are unable to acquire. The actual model rules are absolutely fine to play (though app support would be incredibly welcome).
