I can't decide which version of the rule book to get for WHFB...The collectors edition looks great, but is 90USD! The gamers edition is 75USD, and has other stuff...and the regular book (is it paperback?) is 50...such a tough choice :-/

Depends on what you need it for. If you just want straight out rules, then the battle for skull pass is your best bet. That way you can trade away everything in the box for stuff you want and get the rules for cheap.
If you want a bit more than just the rules (I beleive that WHFB rulebook HB comes with some extras) then the hardbound is for you.
If you really really want to have like, 10 million of fantasy battles babies, then the collectors edition is good.

Based on this review from TWF, I'd avoid the Gamer's edition like the plague. http://warhammer.org.uk/PhP/viewtopic.php?t=20614

Whoah. The templates are bigger? Anyone else confirm this? If its true, I can see some banning of the use of these in 40k.

Not sure what the fuss is about the gamers edition, in my opinion it's a pretty good deal, and I took one home for myself. The HC rulebook is 50 bucks, so for 25 you're getting the rest of it. Tokens are useful, the shoulder pack is nice, and I like the dice. Definitely a decent deal.

"The last known instance of common sense happened at a GT. A player tried to use the 'common sense' argument vs. Mauleed to justify his turbo-boosted bikes getting a saving throw vs. Psycannons. The player's resulting psychic death scream erased common sense from the minds of 40k players everywhere. " - Ozymandias |

Larger templates, damaged rule book, low quality bags, and unusable dice all for the low, low price of £68 ($130) is what her problem was. Given that, I'm avoiding it like the plague too, even though stateside it's a bit more of a deal at $75. There will be no using those dice or templates in any game I play. Sorry. Back to the OP: I found the BfSP to be a good deal: You get the rules plus boatloads of figures and other do-dads for $45. Now, in the off chance you don't want the miniatures within, or won't be able to find anyone to trade/barter them for, then the big rulebook might work. Wait a few more weeks and you might even be able to get it on sale.

Larger templates, damaged rule book, low quality bags, and unusable dice.. A damaged book isn't something unique to the gamers edition. Just ask Mailorder for a new one. If you're buying it from a shop, open the box and eyeball it there. The bag isn't that bad at all. What are you comparing it to? Something by Gucci? I had no problem with the dice, used them all weekend. Template size I'll have to compare, that could be a problem for some people. People are paying 15 bucks just for the SC rulebook, so I don't think 10 bucks for the templates, dice, bag and tokens is a bad deal at all.

Uh, I'm not, I was referring to the previously mentioned Jessica DeJong's post on TWF. Or did you miss that part? TWF isn't exactly "Anti-GW" either, seeing as how it's The Warhammer Players Society's forum. Anyhow, having already picked up the BfSP set (as I mentioned before) and even at the US price that "gamers edition" doesn't provide a value for my dollar as I already own my own (quality) dice, legal templates and markers, as well as two well constructed bags sans poorly-made logo.

If you read the thread I linked to, you'll see that the dice are deliberately misshapened, (Solitaire, who is GW corporate) and also that Gav T chimed in to say "Thanks for the review" and that GW needed to know when there were problems with products.
