Hello people of this Forum. I have a problem with my Black Templars. First off I will tell you all that non of my Marine have been painted although they are Black Primered. I am thinking of having different colours for my templars other than Black. I can find no inspiration to sit and paint them just the standard black. I still want to keep the darkness of them but jus not plain black. I will be using all the same models and Icons (I like the cross) and the BT codex At the moment all I know I want are Blood Red helmets and Blood Red Bolter Casings. I have tried other stuff using the Space MArine Painter on GW site but nothing really jumps out at me. Can anyone help me?

I'd just take 4 or 5 of them and paint them a few different color schemes til you find something you like, that's what I've always done and I find it very helpful

I've also always had trouble painting black models. One idea I had was to take black templars, swap all the black and white areas (so the model was predonimantly white) and then change all the white to a bone colour. The bone would probably have to be fairly dark, darker than bleached bone anyway to look right, but I think it could work. Kinda like this : http://img270.imageshack.us/my.php?image=templarcl4.jpg

Right, after a conversation with a Mod on a different forum, here is what I have come up with. http://i27.photobucket.com/albums/c164/Smython/NewColours3.jpg I like it. feel free to add comments.

I commented in your other thread but something else occurs to me. You might want to change the bolter color. I think that a black or silver casing (where you have the tan) will look a lot better with this scheme. This color will blend in too much. I personally try to never have a base color for the weapons that is the same as one of the primary colors in the armor's scheme. A complementary color that allows the weapons to stand out but not garishly is what I shoot for.

Yes, there are female marines and my Sunhawks will explain it to you.

You can't paint a marine those colors! Everybody knows that Space Marines have to be painted in color schemes that will stand out against almost any possible background, so that they can draw fire away from everything else and then stand there laughing while bullets bounce off their armor.
Seriously though, that scheme looks good, although it definitely doesn't say "Black Templars" to me.

I don't want them to be Black Templars. I just like the models, the rules, the 'feel' of black Templars. Hard to explain really

How about making your own crusading chapter?

That is kind of what I was thinking but I didn't think of putting it that way! Yes a Crusading Chapter, derived from the Templars. There you go. A bit of fluff
