I've been working on and off on the Skull Pass figures, and have made pretty good progress (for me, given my glacial painting pace).  So far I've completed three units (minus bases); I figure I'm about 2/5th way through the entire contents of the boxed set...

Dwarf Warriors:

Dwarf Miners:

Night Goblin Spearmen:

These figures were very easy to clean up and paint and look good.  Pretty impressive package for only $45!

They look very good actually. I'm still resisting the temptation of Warhammer Fantasy, but this box set is making it very difficult.

No earth shattering, thought provoking quote. I'm just someone who was introduced to 40K in the late 80's and it's become a lifelong hobby.

Nice job!  For such simplistic sculpts, those Skull Pass minis do paint up nicely!

And it's such a deal too...

Anyway - those ought to look tip-top once you finish the bases.

I'm begining to wish I hadn't used Testors flat black spray for those night gobos--dosn't work well!

And how do you get black to be "highlighted" so you can see details, but not make it look faded?

What I did was to use grey to highlight the black robes, but go easy on it to avoid the faded look you mentioned.

By the way, the gobbos were primed with black gesso and not painted over with black afterwards (except to touch up).
