Brethren, greetings!

It is my pleasure to announce that the first Inquisitor Grand Tournament will take place at Warhammer World, Lenton, Nottingham, UK on 8 December 2007.

Tickets will be £10 if bought in advance or £12 at registration.

UPDATE 31 Aug 07: The Briefing Pack has been finished and will shortly be available as a download from Dark Magenta's website.  The ticket design is being finalized and I've got an "official stamp" (it's very cool) to validate them.

The other exciting piece of news is that Andy Hall or Gav Thorpe or Jervis Johnson or some combination of that list will be joining us at the event and hopefully presenting the prizes to the winners!

UPDATE 3 Sep 07: The full Briefing Pack is now available from www.darkmagenta.net/inqgt.html.

Bookings are now being accepted.

This thread will be editted to include the latest details as they are finalized.

Regards,

Robey Jenkins
Event Organizer

I honestly wonder how on earth will =I= work as a GT though.

With a lack of point values, I wonder the same thing.

I wish I could go, 'cause I love Inquisitor. Please post a link when the rules are posted(if posted online), cause it looks like we're all wondering how it would work. Probably a character slots system with slots for 4-5 characters, where Marines and other similarly sick characters counts as 2, perhaps 3, characters.

Maybe there's a set of battles they have to go through with a GM present.

I don't know.

So how do we turn a cooperative game like Inquisitor into a competitive tournament? Well, the event is basically broken into three sections:

1. Gaming

2. Painting & Modelling

3. Inquisition

Gaming is subdivided into two: playing and game-mastering. The GMs mark the players and the players mark the GMs. Everyone plays at least three games and GMs at least one. Players are marked on several criteria, only one of which involves actually achieving ones objectives.

So the players who turns up with three Space Marines might certainly wipe the board with his opponents in combat terms, but he will also score no or next-to-no points in terms of sportsmanship and imagination. And there's no guarantee that, by doing so, he will win the scenario (see later). In fact, by giving his opponent the opportunity to kill Space Marines, he might even give them bonus points in the "Did something cool" category.

Painting & Modelling is judged by the WHW staff.

Inquisition is a General Knowledge test on the background and history of the 40kverse and rules of the game. It's an open book test, but don't expect to find all the answers in the LRB.

It seems that method worked at least once. Thought I would think it's only because Inqusitor is not widely known for attracting cutthroat players.

And it brings those fond memories of converting six demonettes for my friends warband >

OK, OK, not quite the last bump. But I thought I'd just let people know that I've sold enough tickets to cover the expenses. Any more sold will go straight into the prize pot!

Confused. This thread was about a 2007 event, and the website is now dead.
