Getting my broom incase there is shenanigans.

They are keeping the points at 1750.

They have gone to the check boxes for Sportsmanship and Painting.

Overall I like what they are doing.

One thing I found interesting:

Which Edition?
In some situations, we may have a change of rules editions during the season. Our standing rule for this situation is: If a new edition of a game system is released less than 60 days prior to the event in question, we will use the previous rules edition.

For complete clarity you should keep an eye on the Updates page of this site for the latest information.

This seems to confirm to me that 5th edition 40k is definitely on its way.

Busy somewhere, airin' out the skin jobs.

They're heading back to the Hotel's!

I'm totally happy with THAT decision. Sounds like a comback of the GT's of old. Finally.

I have never failed to seize on 4+ in my life!

Dave,

Thanks for taking the criticism. Putting these things together can be thankless and difficult.

I'll be looking forward to attending at least one of the GT's this year.

Dave... (If you're reading this)

Looks like some phenomenal work there.

Quick question: Was the exclusion of Dogs of War from the Fantasy side deliberate?

Looking solid.

Checklist sports is obviously influenced by Adepticon, though it's a bit longer. Actually resembles my system as much as it does Adepticon's.

Anyone know why they switched from 1850 to 1750?

Seems like a rather arbitrary decision, and I'm pretty sure I've never heard "why?".

I think in the past they had to many games going over the 2 1/2 hour limit. That could be a reason why they lowered it by 100 points.

1850 is a weird number, you have to admit.

Seems like a nice blending of old and new ways. I like this. GT's are seem like they will have some old school appeal again. I do like that it is all in one place again in Hotel ballrooms. That means I can drink a lot if I want and then stumble back to my room.

Trust me, no matter what damage they have the potential to do, single-shot weapons always flatter to deceive in 40k.                                                                                                       Rule #1

I like the song aboyt the dogs of war by Pink Floyd. The original singer of the band (Sid Barrett) went insane and they made the movie about his life.

They did not overlook the Kroot. They have an apocalypse datasheet now, dontchaknow?

Damn, I hate seeing the most highly-converted armies fall by the wayside.

Infinity: Way, way better than 40K and more affordable to boot!

I know I'm in the minority, but I'm not crazy about quantitiative appearance judging. It inevitably ends up creating little spread between scores. But it looks to be a better system than the one they had a couple years ago, at least. Overall, I'm pretty happy with the rules this year.

I think the way they broke it down will create a decent separation. It's definitely better than having the all-over-the-map scores we sometimes saw last year.

So the missions are the same as in the 2007 GT package?

As a separate topic: I don't like the Community Development Team referring to the players as “nerds”. Read: “...’geeking out’ with your nerd buddies” and “get ready for some great nerd weekends!” I don’t fit that mold and neither do certain other players. The majority of players my fit the label of nerd, but it alienates those that don’t.
