So Monday, Feb. 11th I put in my bit order ($485 US) knowing full well GW is switching the way they do bits order. I ordered 6 predator turret and sponson sprues and enough metal shoulders for full battle company plus all extra figures I have. Check my Ultramarine 4th co. in P/M blogs

GW said should be delivered 5-8 days. Fast forward to Thursday, Feb 21st. I haven't seen bit order yet. I calll GW to get tracking number. GW employee, Jeff give me tracking number during call when I was at laundramat. So at 8:45pm tonight I punch in tracking number and find that order was delivered last Friday, the 15th. FedEx left at door with no sig confirmation. I was gone when they came. I have not seen package and fear the "random" punks around my apartment complex took it, checked it out, and threw away. After quick search of my and close by building's basements and finding nothing.

At 9:10pm I call police to send officer. At 11:15pm (that whole different story, lol) officers arrive. I give my account. They take report. They say to call GW and FedEx tomorrow. So now all I want to do is destroy every mutha fucka in this establishment. I'm mad as hell! (Trust me. I'm 6'4 295 lbs, I'll kill a bitch).

The disgusting thing about all this is fact that GW is in middle of switching bits ordering process. I ordered bits that are being discontinued like the 3rd tactical shoulder, devastators shoulders, 2nd assault shoulders, pred sprues. I fear if GW offers to reship I may not get stuff I specifically ordered to to switch. I have faith that they may honor as I have police file. I first want to see what FedEx says as they are the jackasses who left at door without sig confirmation. Even if they refund me the money I lost the ability to get bits I need.

In the 8 months that I have lived in this hole of an apartment complex I have had 1 other package taken. I found it in basement opened with haloclix figure on floor and packaging in garbage. I have taken extra precautions to insure that I'm around when our mail comes. The one day when I'm gone (visiting dad 45 miles away) gak hits fan. What are the odds? I distrust this 14 year old jackass who lives here. Just today he stole his mom's car and ran it into snow bank 2 blocks away and got sent to juvie. Imagine that! Police wake his mom's ass and searched their place, nothing. Obviously! I fear package hit the dumpster and is gone via garbage pickup is Tuesday. Come on fellas who knows 40k unless they play 40k?

Just want to hear what you all think and what might FedEx/GW do after hearing what happened here.

I dont know if you have any legal recourse, but I'd just pester both companies until one of them provides a solution that you are happy with. I've never had a problem with that large of an order, but Ive found with similar issues that sometimes that is what you have to do.

It's not about kicking some ass. I had my mail stolen. It never crossed my doorstep. I just want it replaced.

GW, until the 12th of Feb., was doing bit orders like always. Now they are in middle of switch over.

I lost a lot of minis (all the really nice ones) and a lot of my 40k books (all the really expensive ones) when I moved from Hawaii to Wyoming. Sometimes there's not a darned thing you can do but howl at the moon.

I think you can get UPS and Fedex to always get a sig when they deliver to your place, or you might get stuff sent to work or a company like mailboxes etc.

Not much consolation but it will protect you in the future.

I'm thankful that Fedex delivers to my apartment's office if no-one's home. Of course, sometimes I don't think they even bother checking to see if I'm home.

Ask FedEx, UPS, or DHL (or people shipping you things using them) to deliver only with signature. You might have to go out to their office if they miss you when you're in, but at least they won't leave it at your door where someone can walk off with it.

You can also ask your local post office to not leave packages.

It's a pity that you let the little bastard get away with his shenannagins this long. Anything you can do to make sure the little crack-master stays pent-up in the rape-pen this time? Maybe try and go more "law and order" on him rather than "WWE"?

Is it up to the sender to tell the delivery company to only drop off with a signature? I had UPS make three attempts to deliver a small $30 package once, before they said I just had to go pick it up and sign for it. The next week they left a mid-sized box full of $1500 worth of computer components on my front step after one attempt.

I called Fed Ex this morning they are doing follow-up claim on this. I then called GW at 11am and discussed with customer service. They are re-sending order. I'm crossing figures that all bits I ordered will be included. I'm faxing them my police report and any other info I get from Fed Ex.

Next on my list is to see the "brat" and go from there.

I have had my faith restored that GW is a good company that cares.

I was under assumption that Fed Ex required sig or they didn't leave package. This one's on Fed Ex. GW is filing claim against Fed Ex.

If I get my bit order fully intact I will be happy beyond belief.

I'm having package sent to different location. I triple checked address and asked from sig confirmation when it ships only to get this direct quote from GW "if we can get sig confirmation we will."

I say plant a fake package outside your place one day. Paintbomb, or uv ink, like on the retail theft prevention devices. Make the return address someplace expensive. Yep.

FedEx is strange, though. They sometimes will not deliver to my apartment unless I sign, and if I do not, they will take it back to the local office for pick-up. Sometimes they will leave it with my rental office. Sometimes they will leave it at the door. And sometimes they actually put it in the mailbox. It seems to be based on luck, and the mood of the particular delivery man that day.

That being said, I have no idea what their actual policy is. It's hard to tell...

I've seen a few things like this where people don't get an order and get stuck paying out but don't have their stuff. I realize you want the bits, but I always wonder if people are aware that you don't have to pay for things you don't receive when you pay for them with a credit card. Well, VISA, at least. Never had a Master Card, so I can't comment.

Seems like your problem has been solved, much to GW's credit in my book, but check out your card-holder agreement if you have one. Mine says that I'm not responsible for payment of charges for goods or services that weren't delivered. I give my credit card for an order and it never shows up? I just give a call and tell the folks at customer service. I don't have to pay and they do the follow up. If the company or UPS/FedEx want to argue the point, they can do it with VISA's lawyers. Legal recourse built right in. I've used it once when a company continued to bill me for a service that I canceled. No hassle.

good on you for the fake package! that's a great idea. I'd have asked the local cops for some UV sensitive ink to coat it with. Play a light over kids hands, busted.

I've had weird luck with GW. Few years back, my wife ordered 12 classic marines for me that I had wanted. It was a great gift, she's always been good about gifts. Well, they didn't arrive on time and she was FUMING. She'd allotted an extra 20 days, as well. Her mood was just rancid. I called GW b/c she wasn't going to be able to do it w/o buying some rat poison. So I talk to these guys, they figure out what's going on, immediately re-send. Time +a few roles around, no joy. I talk to them again. They freak out this time, really coming unnerved (they were checking the shipping online, and verifying no delivery either time). I get the third send, on time. Call them nd thank them, meaningless as tit may be. Check the post date. Turns out it was the FIRST ship that had just arrived. A few days later the third arrives, then the second. I call them up, they say keep it.

edited b/c when I'm tired I drink too much coffee, which eventually turns into special olympics in a mug.

Fast forward a few years, and they won't replace anything for me now without me mailing it to them, paying for shipment. If they decide it needs replacement, they'll do it, but if not I'm liable for shipment both ways. I think I got black listed or something.

This is on Fed-Ex, since "leaving it on yer door" is standard operating procedure for them. And the guys delivering it have a million other deliveries to make, so they skip breaks, speed like mad, and don't really care enough to deliver it properly.

Being in the mail order business i find it strange that all mail and delivery services in the UK deliver between the hours of 9am to 5pm monday to friday ,which is really stupid when you think about it because for the vast majority of people that happens to be when they are at work.So alot of mail never actually gets delivered, it just gets returned to a post depot and has to be picked up by the person who ordered it ,and the post depots are only open standard office hours.

Oh, one day I'm sitting at my desk, there's a knock on the door, I get up and walk the 10ish feet to it, no one's there. Look down the driveway and the UPS person is getting back into their truck, and a new DSL modem is sitting on my deck. It was annoying as hell because I was supposed to put the old broken modem into the box, put a new shipping label that was included in the package over the first one, and give it back to the UPS person. Instead I had to drive out to the UPS place on the other side of town.

In case of bad neibour: have your package send to your job, not your house.

I feel your pain man. I had an eBay item "dissappear" off my door step back when I was living in DE. If it had been for more than 20$ I might have gotten around to raising hell with the post office, but I doubt they would have done anything.
Now I am lucky that our post office doesn't have a mail man, so we have to get all our stuff there. Sort of annoying, but everytime the UPS man knocks on my door and is in his truck speeding away before I can walk the 15 feet to get there, I am glad.

Damn that just sucks but I do have some tips

1) is there anyone you trust a neighbor that lives a door away or such

2) if so maybe try and get them to give them it when your not home

This is what I do I have a 85 year old neighbor and she always looks after packages that I miss(always be nice to the elderly FTW)

UPS here where I live (Odessa, TX) is awful. They always take longer than USPS and they leave things in front of my door while I'm at work for any old random person to pick up and run off with. My favorit though is when I ordered several IG tanks a while back and they came in this fairly large box that was something like 2'x1'x'1 (maybe a little bigger) ...the guy actually tried to hide it under my doormat. So I come home to my door mat obviously covering a large package ...not discreet at all. It was really quite comical to look at.

As a result I try to have packages delivered via USPS (especially for smaller stuff) whenever it is an option, and it isn't always sadly. They're faster than UPS and they deliver packages to my apartment office. It's good to know that at least some of my tax money is going to good use.
