Mongoose is making a single, limited run of the Skyhook Retrieval Boat and the Tanker Bug. If you want them, better order them now unless you feel like trawling eBay at some later date.

For 50 quid, the retrieval boat would want to be gold plated.

I had been looking at picking a few of these up as Drop Pod proxies if and when they were finally released. But for that price, just building my own suddenly became a much better prospect.

Not worth it at all for 50 pounds sterling.

Even if I still played the game, I wouldn't consider that a feasible price at all.

I wonder how many diehard ST players are out there that would pay this price for....that.

that's just sad, we've all been waiting for the plastic drops ships forever and ever and ever and ever.

may I recommend the Old Crow lander for UKP 20?

Yeah, those are definitely just okay. Nothing special at all, and certainly not worth anywhere close to 50 pounds.

these seemed great when they were promising them in plastic, 2 to a pack cheaply.

now? not a chance, that tanker looks naff too. I love the SST game and have bought up loadsa the minis. I'd consider these if they were half the price... maybe.

No thanks. I won't pay a premium resin price for these
Mongoose releases. If they had been plastic, then yes. If it
was for a specific game or miniatures release, then yes. I
won't, however, support Mongoose's last ditch effort at...
whatever they're ditching for. I don't know.

New Tanker, don't need it I already have 3 painted. I would really love to have a Skyhook, but for a hundred bucks I would rather get something from FW and I'm not in any hurry to give them my money either.

Pff. Those are bunk. You want a cool dropship, I bet if you paid Spaceman Spiff and asked him really nicely, he could sculpt up something 20x better, and you'd have the extra priviledge of having the ONLY ONE IN EXISTENCE!!

Since I notice he hasn't posted his works here, go check out his awesome sculpts over at the lordsofthebattlefield.com forums.

I have a mate that plays ST. He also uses his 'Bugs' as Beasts in his DE Army, which look kind of cool.

I have a 5 year old nephew. His 'toys' look better than that Dreck they are selling for BIG $$$.

Makes the GW Gothic stuff look like Gold.

And that's saying something.

PS, if somebody out there has one painted, I would like to see it.

As much as i like bugs the quality offered and these prices are not balanced. Tanker bug is very very crude sculpt wise.

Um.... that crow lander costs 20 quid, the arvus lighter costs 50, and the valkyrie costs 85.

I'm with KK. I like the crow much better, even if it DOES look too streamlined to really fit in with 40k imperial tech.

nothing a couple of skulls and oversized weapons can't fix.

Is the Arugs really US$100?

@Kid_Kyoto - Yessir. 50 pounds. So depending on how bad the dollar is doing that day it's about $100.

$100 for THAT!?

I guess GW's pricing doesn't seem so bad now. And, is it just me, or has anyone else noticed that recently a lot of the larger mini companies seem to be implementing ridiculous price increases? GW, Rackham, now Mongoose...it seems like they're all trying to outdo each other by offering the crappiest, most expensive fanboi mini.

And I second KK's advice - Old Crow is simply stellar. I have a bunch of their 6mm stuff and it is some of the nicest, most crisply detailed stuff I've ever seen in that scale.

Actually PP is leading the pack with high prices. Rackham is not cheap, but PP showed them all how to do it. And most customers of PP-products that complain with other companies are willing to shell out that much.

After reading this, I compared the Valkyrie and Vulture to their Old Crow equivalents. The FW ships are actually quite streamlined for 40K minis. The Main differences (things that make the Old Crow stuff look less 40k-ish) are the rounded engine housings, and the lack of rivets. Rivet the heck out of things (especially the canopy fittings) and strip those rounded engines off and replace them with either podracer engines from a Star Wars toy or scavenged model-plane engins without their housings (so the turbines and wiring are exposed) and you've got really good standins.

Oh, and make all the weapons twice as large as they need to be, as KK recommends.

Infinity: Way, way better than 40K and more affordable to boot!

You've got a point there. Shoot, hack up a Pirahna model for it's engines bitz and that crow will look great, all rivetted up, of course.

I don't know if this is some kind of Joke, or what...

They come out with pure craptastic sculpts, pimp up the game without support, then try to "improve" it with a half hearted attempt. The Battlefield 2 crap was almost as bad as what they did to Starship troopers.
" almost 90% better paintjobs then most gamers..." Paint jobs? Call them !$@ jobs, more like it.
Then to top it all off, they promised an updated game, then almost a month or two later, they claim that they were coming out with it's own game, only better, now they have scrapped the whole game.

Why would anyone buy that crap when half of the parts will be missing, and the other half will be miscast?

Considering how much they care about thier games, take it as some sort of gag.
Mongoose is dead.

Won't the old crow models be a bit on the small side for 40K at 6½"/165mm?
