I am disappointed to find only 1 blastmaster and 1 sonic blaster per box of the new Emperor's Children. Is there a source for these weapons? If not, what would be your advice on conversions or alternate weapons that might pass as sonic weapons.....
I was hoping to find 12 sonic blasters.

This is something a friend and I discussed doing but never went forward with. Cut the ammo clip and muzzle off a bolter, add one of the gargoyle heads from the chaos vehicle sprue to the barrel of the gun. Do something creative with the backpack to make it look more noise-centric. Super freaking cheap, probably looks good.
For the blastmaster, do the same thing with an autocannon or heavy bolter.
This'd probably look better with those old noise marine backpacks with the speakers but since the bitz program is gone you're out of luck.

i made my sonic blasters as well. i used the light from a space marine tank, its round and looks like a kicker speaker, i files it down a bit and made some castings of it. i chopped of the barrel tip on the bolter and mounted it on the gun. i ran guitar string from the bolter to the backpack. it looks acceptable, but nowhere as cool as i had hoped.
i had thought about using some lego radar dishes mounted on the end of a bolter, but never got around to it.
you can find large lots of the dishes on ebay.

I would imagine there will be/is a bitz package that will include sonic blasters and blastmasters, however that doesn't help you in the here and now..

I think I have an idea. You migth be lucky, and this will work.
You will need:
1 Weapon. Preferably a big one. I think plasmaguns, and Heavy Bolters will be good.
2 The exhaust( SP?) vent from a SM back pack.
3 Greenstuff.
4 Moderate greenstuff skills.
5 your soul. To pay GW for the parts.
6 A cheap can of cola, or a non alchoholic beverage. I used 7up.
Lets get started.
I will do this here in my command center aswell, to assure that it works.
Lets go.
I am taking the Heavy bolter for this.
1st, you remove the ammo chain, and the tip of the receiver, on the HB. File down the location that used to have the barrel. Get a even surface that you can mount something on.
2nd, Drink from the can of cheap beverage. VERY IMPORTANT.
3rd, Cut the round part of the power pack of. Be very, very carefull... Cut of the little round part that the vent is mounded on.
4th, Again this is very difficult. You now have a sphere with a exhaust( SP?) in one end. Begin cutting away till you have half of the sphere with the vent in one end, and a flat surface on the opposite.
5th, This stressfull task gives you the desire to drink. Drink more of the beverage.
6th, Glue the vent on to the former HB.
7th, Let it dry. Give it time.
8th, After giving it time to dry, begin to mix the greenstuff.
9th, Make to weenie( SP?) out of the Greenstuff. One thick one, we will name it Poelse A (Poelse = Wiener in Danish.) And a slightly( SP?) thinner one, poelse B. Attacth "Poelse A" over the vent, preferably on the sigth. The vent must not be completely concealed, actually the more visible it is the better. Just dont expose to much of it.
10th, Secure the Greenstuff to the gun, by sqeeuzing it to the gun using a sculpting tool, I used a simple knife.
11th, Form a hideus face into the greenstuff while your at it. A self portrait will do in far the most cases.
12th, Drink again.
13th, Attach it to the model of choice.

I don't have pictures, but I actually did almost exactly what Dead Horse said. I used the particularly stubby, newer gargoyle head from the vehicle sprue. Cut the ammo clip, muzzle, and gun sight off a chaos bolter, then just glued the head on the end. Looks pretty sharp. I didn't even think about the guitar string linked to the backpack though, that would probably help the overall look, unfortunately mine are finally about 3/4 painted, not sure I want to go back and mess with that. For the Blastmaster I used the plastic multi-melta from the landspeeder, cut the muzzle off and attached the 'Dirge Caster' face from the vehicle sprue. Again, looks pretty good to me, give it a try.

I was just checking the GW site, and it seems you can't bitz order any of the pieces you want.
Drat! Really, that's so dumb.
Well, I would probably use Green stuff around a bolter (cut the amo clip off, and employ some guitar strings for the wires to the backpack).
The Gargoyle head will work if you aren't so inclined to sculpt.

I like the idea of the Dirge Caster + Multi-Melta = Blastmaster, and I've always been a big fan of using the CSM gargoyle heads for such things (I found they were useful for Inquisitor Psycannons, myself) - plus you can designate the different gargoyle heads to represent different weapons.

Yeah, I saw that on warseer. No telling how much it will cost, tho. Since I'm a cheap bastard, I'm gonna make me some out of plastic like the pics above. I was about to place an order with Bit Kingdom, anyway.

FWIW, I'm going to be converting "counts as" Blastmasters from the SM Multi-Melta, tubing, sprue, and green stuff. I picked the Multi-melta as the core because it is really big and bulky.

I did a lazy conversion for some spare sonic blasters. I lopped the barrel off a Heavy Bolter, didn't even bother with tubes, glued the small gargoyle head on the front, and then lopped off the rear portion of the heavy bolter.
I proceeded to lopp off wrists and re-set arms to have the heavy bolter held in one hand, so the other can hold a chainsword to remind me that they still get all their attacks. It looks sufficiently mutated to pass as a sonic blaster.

Crap, a cheaper pack of sonic blasters? I've already spent like $60 on the metal ones from bitz order.
