Was digging round the net a few days ago and found this link to a Dawn of War Mod by a guy called Winterdyne.

http://forums.relicnews.com/showthread.php?t=128048&page=1&pp=15

He has some serious talent I think. Anyway he made this HQ for his Mod and I just thought it was great to I made my own model of it.

Sorry for the crap in the back round will get a better pic later ans will keep you guys updated on it when Its painted. STill have to do the Sat dish too.

All but the lamp posts and only because I ran out of the bigger plastic posts. The forms of the pad, base and roof of bunker and base of the radio tower are from some plastic sheets I got from a friend years ago, they were used as spacers for film or some thing like that but plasticard all the same.

The mesh is plastic screen for storm doors, the rest of it is Evergreen Scale model card, tubing and strips. I made the tresses/handrails from scratch using a hobby saw and meiter box, as no one here on the Island carries Plastruct. ( that I have been able to find) Plastruct makes predone trusses and hand rails. They would have sped this up a bit for sure.

Sorry no WIP shots either. I just kind of kept rolling with this over the weekend. Have a cold and was riding it out on the couch. So I surrounded my self with my terrain box and went to work. Did not think about pictures till it was too late.

Ok, if no WIP then you need to take detailed shots from multiple angles so we can all copy your hard work.

So here are some better pics. by request and because sadly I did no WIP shots ( I know I know , what was I thinking)
I am still working on the sat dish. I plan on doing some boxes and cans and such around one of the lamp posts and then primering the whole thing so I can get it painted!

Seriously, where do you buy the more specialized plasticard stuff, is there a good site?

It looks like Vyper has used normal card & some wire mesh.

The special card I have always found to be horrendously expensive.

Here's a site though (seems ok, but still for £15+pp for 12"x24" you can get some decent pre-formed terrain. Brick & mortar stores are obviously more expensive than this)

Kid Kyoto, the site Jazz posted is the company I used from my card. I have been buying packages of it over the years a few at a time. Its between $2-4 for the strips and tubes and from $4-8 for the sheets. The textured one ( I did not use any here) are usually the high costing ones. I would say hit a model train shop or a well stocked hobby shop.

Thanks for all the kind words. I am gonna get it painted by the end of the week I hope. Still haveing trouble trying to get the sat dish built.

Was that an Alvar Aalto chair in the background of the first pic?

Destrado....Not sure what an Alvar Aalto chair is. There are soem of the stools for my game table on the left , and a massage chair that is covered with the crap on the right. Thanks glad you like it.

Sturmtruppe...I would say all told about 10 hours or so over 3 days. I had a cold/allergy attack and was riding the couch so I figured inbetween meds and blowing my nose every 5 seconds I would work on some thing new. That the fruit of that sickly labor.

I found a bit today at a hobby shop that I think will work for the Sat dish so I will hopefully be posting that up soon.

Thanks again guys.

The high stool 64 (used for example in the mac store, they show it on the site).

If it's real it should fetch a nice price, nearly 150 pounds. Even if you don't sell it, it's still nice to have a piece from one of last century's greatest architects

Even if it is a copy, it's a lovely chair.

Destrado...well they are a very close match to that chair. My legs are a bit more straight up and down than the one you linked too, but other wise they look almost exatcly alike, I have 4 of them!

Ok Back on topic. I went hunting for a form for my radar dish and found a "coster" (for lack of better discription) for a wine glass in miniature. I think they are for wedding cake or something like that. Anyway, I added some strips for texture, there are spines on the back side or it and made a bracket for it. I am not sold on it quite yet but I have a few more things to try. I want to add some buttons maybe a mini antena and some cabeling. Then I am going to primer it. That will let me know if I like fully. I added a magnet to the botton of the base so it will turn and more importantly be able to be removed so it wont get broken off in transit. I want to get this baby painted before I lose interest.

this is awesome...
Looks like it will be nice to game over,
Would be difficlut to play as WYSISYG, maybe you could play it as alot of area terrain i guess... maybe area terrain with no impeadment to movement...
It's suited for necromunda...

but i agree i wanna see this painted.

Panic...

Awesome trerrain! I love it. THis is the kind of things I want on my boards.

THe radar dish is very well done.
I think I know why you may not like the radar dish.

it's the curved rim/edge.

THey whould be curved the OTHER way (concave?) not (convex?) That would resemble the more mobile "collapsable" radar dish. The way it is now, is subtling reminding you of a flower. I think with some Convex edges, you may like it better.

http://blog.makezine.com/ParabolicMic2.jpg

like that, but a bit more concave??

This is such a small detail that it doesn't take away from the whole terrain piece one iota, but you said something about it wasn't sitting right, and the lumpy sides were the first thing that stuck out at me. /shrugs

The piece is perfect IMO, but it's you who has to be happy with it.

Just my two cents

OK so its been through ALOT of paint trying to find the right tones. This is bigger than most stuff I paint and flat surfaces are a pain to do anything with added to that the size changes the color of paint and it all goes pear shaped quick. So I found the color I was looking for and got to work. Here are some base coat shots. There is the start or damage/weathering on the pad. I will do similar stuff to all the parts as well as ink wash the rust effect. I also have some timaya weather kits I want to try to use so we will see. Any way here we go

Bunker

Pad

The bridge/ramp

Radar shot

Comm tower

Still lots of work to do but told you guys I would keep you updated.

This is great! Be sure to get those flat surfaces nice and grimy. Looking forward to seeing it all with weathering etc.
