I'm having some problems painting the gold trim on my Khorne Berzerkers. I used Mechrite Red foundation paint, but when I paint the gold on, it comes out very, very faint, just a bit of sparkly stuff. Anyone got a solution?

Assuming you're using GW's paints, their golds aren't particularly good. I find painting the area white first, and then applying many coats of gold to be the best solution, unless you can obtain some Vallejo Paints Gold, which covers much better.

bubber got it right...
if you're usin' gw paints, follow his recipe...though i don't use the brazen bress step, i use gold mixed with scorched brown instead...the brown in the gold gives it a better coverage...one final step is a highlight with a bit of mithril silver mixed in the gold...

cheers

Would Brazen Brass then Shining Gold work? I'm reluctant to use anything other than GW paints because they tend to get messy and look terrible.

When I did my khorne, I just did a black under coat, shinning gold, then another coat of gold... looked great for me.

I use yellow then gold then silver highlights, followed by a
brown or black wash depending on the effect.

Cheese Elemental, Vallejo paints are at least on a par for quality with GW, and they have a wider selection of colors. Try 'em out, seriously.

I'm not sure if you can get them in Australia. I looked in several art stores but saw no vallejo paints.

What I did for my Black Legion Berserkers was mithril silver, flesh wash, then highlight with brazen brass. This is what it looks like.

I use Tausept ochre or similar to base my gold with. It is really similar tone, and you get the coverage of foundation paint.

Echo the brown or chestunut wash(that dates how old my paint set is!!!). It really makes the difference with any gold colors.
