Having just come off the Canadian GW website, linking from the US site.

Have to ask someone.....Why is the Australian site so bad? Have a look at it.....

If you hurry, you might be able to buy a 4th ed 40K book from Oz !
Have a look at the gallery of "new" Harlequin models!

Quite honestly, if they can't be bothered to update the site more than once every 2 years why keep it up at all?
The site is totally redundant. Does it serve any purpose apart from being a total embarrassment?

Why not just link to the UK site for news and give it all a miss?

According to the chaps down on WargamerAU, it's because there's nobody actually updating it at the moment, on account of GW OZ actually laying off a bunch of staff in the last year or so along with the guys who produced the Oz White Dwarf.

GW are supposedly working on a centrally run global site, and in the meantime are just letting the Oz site languish in misery on its lonesome.

Because it's Australian.

Don't get me wrong- I think it's pretty amazing what Australians are doing these days. Sometimes they even seem human. But for all the recent research and progress, the fact remains that Australians are wild and potentially dangerous animals that will kill and eat a website just as soon as maintain it. Australians should be respected for their majesty and intelligence, but from a safe distance.

The Australian site is pretty bad, but frankly, the U.S. site isn't what it used to be. They've cleaned out just about every useful article unrelated to the sale of miniatures - oh, hey! It's just like White Dwarf now!

Don't knock our country. We aren't the ones who go around starting wars because we want oil.
Yes, the site sucks. It says it's undergoing maintenance, but it's said that for a year. Oh yes, I want a 'sneak peek' of the CSM 'dex, due to be released eleven months ago.

No, we just wait until someone else starts a war and join in...

No moral high ground there.

We should have started it. Could have just sent Steve over to sneak up on Osama, grab him by the tail, and stick his thumb up Osama's bum.

Truss him up and relocate him to a reserve on the Sunshine Coast, and everybody's happy.

Yeah, GW got the idea for "deathworlds" by crawlin' around the outback.

Funnel web spiders aren't so bad. They have a predator that eats them.
In urban areas, they have the feral housebrick to contend with. Don't even try using a thong (flip-flop), you'll just annoy it and make it want to bite you more. It's only instinct is to bite ... and bite ... and bite ... and occasionally, if they're lucky, some of them mate.

It's the stuff you can't see (easily) that should worry you. Don't go swimming off the top end (pointy bits up the top, AKA Cape York through to Broome) without a stinger suit in summer. There are jellyfish 1-2mm across that will kill you.

But as to why the site sucks - because it's a GW site. At least it still has article links up. The site maintainers no longer work for GW, ad so, in the finest aussie tradition, they just don't give a stuff anymore.

I thought that all of the Australian economy was focusing on water desalinization plants.

I am afraid for you....

What is the population density of Australia anyway? Similar to Canada?

No idea what Canada's like.

Oz has around 21 million people, most (around two-thirds) of whom are in the 3 eastern states: New South Wales, Victoria, and the south-eastern corner of Queensland.

Pop density is around 2.6/2.7 per sq km.
Near as I can tell, the canuckians have a higher density of around 3.2.

LA has half of our total population. California total is around 50% more.

USA (mainland) and Aus aren't that different in size. We're mostly camped around the edge. It was generally easier to go around the coast than overland.

Don't all the GW sights suck lately? You can time the page loading w/a sundial. As for the Australians & Canadians, I've trained w/ both when I was in the US army. Both were hardcore professionals that I was honored to serve next to, or put my life in thier hands if the situation called for it. Thats my 2 cents.

I have a better question:

Why were you even there in the first place?

There's nothing that cannot be done cheaper and better on a different website. I mean, compare the price of the Chaos Annihilation Force (1 Lord + 15 Terminators) on the GWOZ site to the one at GWUS. I bought, from GWUS, the Chaos Annihilation force, plus another Lord, got myself the free Title Belt Winner Ltd Ed. Marine, paid shipping costs, and still managed to pay $50 less than if I had just bought the Annihilation Force from GWOZ before shipping.

Seriously folks - do not go to GWOZ. They serve no purpose.

And so, due to rising costs of maintaining the Golden Throne, the Emperor's finest accountants spoke to the Demigurg. A deal was forged in blood and extensive paperwork for a sub-prime mortgage with a 5/1 ARM on the Imperial Palace. And lo, in the following years the housing market did tumble and the rate skyrocketed leaving the Emperor's coffers bare. A dark time has begun for the Imperium, the tithes can not keep up with the balloon payments and the Imperial Palace and its contents, including the Golden Throne, have fallen into foreclosure. With an impending auction on the horizon mankind holds its breath as it waits to see who will gain possession of the corpse-god and thus, the fate of humanity......

Nobody in Australia has drunk Fosters since the 80s.

I'm not sure you can even still buy it anywhere here.

Think of all the actors we export as well. Gay coyboys and popstars. What do you export?

We get plenty of crap tv from the US (but a handful of gems amid th dross, though) - but we also get a lot of crap tv from the UK.

Fairs's fair, though. We give them Neighbours and Home and away (and kylie) - and if they don't get the shows, we just throw actors at them - as payback.
