Going to Games Day in Chicago, will be my first. Was planning on getting Forge World Warhound Titan . Had the sweet number of 295 in my head. Had the girlfriend's blessing Went to Forgeworld website to confirm price. Low and behold 295, I was right. 295 British Pounds! That equals $590 cold hard US dollas via the conversion table Ran that number by the girlfriend and pretty much got this , I responded with , which she responded with , and I was reduced to
So I must draw up the battle plan to get this turned around, but is it worth it? Is Titan worth it? We run Apoc games every other month or so at FLGS in Lucky 13's promotion.
If worth it, which one Mars pattern, Lucius Jackal, or Lucius Wolf?
In Emperor's name Wish me luck!

See, unless you've got a minimum of $1,180 to drop, you can't afford it. Because you need the $590 for the Titan and at least $590 to drop on the girlfriend to oppose her equal and opposite reaction....

If you have a financial issue with buying from Forgeworld you should just build your own. Their are several threads here on Dakka that can help you to do just that. All you need is some plasticard, plans and some patience.

Frankly, this is a really good point. It'll take some time, but I know from my own scratchbuilding experience that the fact that there's pride of production in doing it yourself. Not to mention the financial savings.

It's not financial. It's a question of buying a $600 dolly. She has been pretty forgiving to my spending.
The trap has been set. I left her buy some stuff on Walt Disney site. She is a big Mickey Mouse geek.
I have been granted permission to get Warhound. Praise be the Emperor.

I can sympathise. Ther pound is so strong nowadays compared to the dollar. Normally over the last thrity years or so the exchange rate was about $1.6 to £1.
Also becasue if they lowered US prices European customers would simpkly buy everything online from the US.
So they have the same price everywhere, just about.
Earnings are generally higher in the USA, but not double, so you are paying about 35-50% more real terms.
I would baulk at the price of a Forgeworld Warhound, and I am not married.
I still want one though, so I will buy an Armorcast from eBay costing aprox 50% or use plasticard and the tremplates flaoting around the net for a self build. I think the first of those two options is by far the better.
There is some good news. A second hand Forgewolrd kit tends to keep its value on eBay. So you could argue that if things do get real bad it is sellable.
Though it looks like you have gone for the bribery tactic. Hmm. You already had the girlfiends blessing before, looks like you will need to buy your Warhound soon before the latest Disney purchase wears off.
You could always put big black ears on the Warhound, or paint it brown with a black nose and call it Pluto.

Plans are in works to teach her to play. She did show some interest in the Sisters of Battle.
I will explain the fine qualities of the Pluto idea, On the other hand who could keep their dignity intact running around with some Mickey Moused contraption posing as a Warhound?

I know this is not what you want to hear but I'm going to throw it out there anyways.
I've played a ton of Apocalypse and titans really mess with the dynamics of the game. You know how they say they don't want you using your superheavies in normal 40k? They should say something like titans weren't meant for Apocalypse and should only be used in "Super Apocalypse!!" It happened even before Apoc came out though. Titans force the team without a titan to focus everything they have on killing it or be wiped out, or if both teams have titans it turns into just a big titan fight with everything else just turning into a pointless sidestory. I think that all of the titans in the apoc book (and the reaver) should have their points doubled or at the very least immediately score an objective point to the team that kills one.
I only say this because I'd hate to see you drop that kind of cash and then find out that you only get to (or are let to) use it like once a year or something.
If you're cool with that and you just want an awesome looking center piece for your army (which I totally understand then I would recommend building it yourself since there are a few excellent plans available out there.

I've had a different experience, but I think that mostly has to do with the fact that every time there's multiple Titans/Superheavies on table, one side also brings 20+ pie plate bearing tanks, too. I've honestly never seen a Titan affect a game much, as they slug at each other whilst the rest of the tanks slow down the game. No one here really pays attention to them except the actual owners of the Titans.

Sucks to be an owner of the US dollar ATM.
The Australian dollar however makes a titan a real prospect for purchase.
If you want to get something big, get whatever you think will make you happiest.
A titan for me is a dream but I'd never use it.
The apocalypse SM company with BA shoulder pads for close to the same price of the titan... and mailed half way around the world to me from the US (for $450US less than to buy in Oz)... oh yeah...
