Just got the New forgeworld newsletter by e-mail, in it is a new ork warboss on a bike and 2 different resin conversion kits to turn the new drop pods into Deathstorm ones. Models are nice but a bit pricey(as usual!).

The most interesting thing is there is a FAQ update for IMPERIAL ARMOUR VOLUME 2 SPACE MARINES AND FORCES OF THE INQUISITION due to 5th ed, apoc and the new sm codex. In it Grey Knight Land Raiders can now transport 12 models! i dunno what else has changed but i'm sure the more eagle-eye people on here will spot some more stuff.

Christmas Ordering
The holiday season is now fast approaching and if you are buying items as Christmas presents we strongly recommend that your order is placed before the end of this month. This is particularly the case if you are overseas or after a large model such as a Titan, Super Heavy Tank etc, in order to avoid delays and potential disappointment.

If you have any questions regarding our products or their availability please contact us on 01159168177 within the UK, 00441159168177 from Europe or 011441159168177 from the US and Canada.

Space Marine Deathstorm Drop Pods
New for the Space Marines are our Deathstorm Drop Pods. Replacements in our range for the discontinued Deathwind Drop Pods, these hybrid resin and plastic kits convert the Games Workshop Plastic Drop Pod to create one of the heavily armed Deathstorm variants.

Designed by Daren Parrwood, these two model kits, one armed with assault cannons and the other with Whirlwind launchers have revised rules which you can find in our new rules update (see below,) making them deadly strike units capable of ripping apart a defensive line in preparation for the Space Marine’s assault.

The Deathstorm Drop Pods are available to pre-order Now for release the week commencing the 24th of November, and each kit comes with a complete plastic drop pod and resin conversion parts

Rules Update
Available now for download is a pdf rules update for Imperial Armour Volume Two: Space Marines & Forces of the Inquisition. This download revises and brings into line all the vehicles in the book with recent changes in the Space Marine Codex and the fifth addition of Warhammer 40,000, as well as introducing new rules for our Deathstorm Drop Pods.

The download is available Here.

Ork Warboss on Bike
Also available for pre-order is our new Ork Warboss on Bike, you can see pictures of this enormous mode. Covered in lavish Orky detail from its huge jet-engined warbike to the Warboss`s chain driven power saw, this model designed by Mark Bedford and Will Hayes, makes the perfect leader for a force of Speed Freaks or can represent any Warboss who just can`t wait around to get stuck into the killing!

The Ork Warboss on Bike is available to pre-order Now for release the week commencing the 24th of November and comes complete with a special resin base.

Events this Autumn
Forge World will be attending two independent shows later this month, where we will have a limited selection of our stock on offer.

Scale Model World is being held on the 15th and 16th of November at the International Centre in Telford in the UK.

There's more to this newsletter than meets the eye, or, specifically, the IA2 update.

We know that Forge World works in concert with the design team to make sure that their rules are (usually) in line with the main rules. I remember in the IA books we got a list that was basically a preview of the upcomin Guard Codex before the Guard Codex was released. What they put out can be used as an interesting key to what might be coming in the future.

Now we have something new.

Take a look at the Inquisitorial Chimera. Some interesting things:

55 Points.
Multi-Laser
Heavy Bolter
Smoke Launchers
Searchlight

Special Rules:
Mobile Firebase
Armoured Command Vehicle

Vehicle Upgrades:
Camo-Netting +20 Points

Sadly it is still AV12/10/10 rather than the AV12/11/10 that it should be, but this is interesting nonetheless.

I'm guessing 'Armoured Firebase' will be about the Lasguns on the side, and the Mobile Command Centre will allow Officers to extend their Leadership ability (whatever becomes of that in the new 'Dex) outside of the Chimera.

55 points is about right. Armored fire base is interesting, but I wonder if it has anything to do with being able to move and shoot both weapon systems. Maybe mobile command center allows a bigger radius. Like 18" instead of 12". I still have no idea what the hell camo netting is in there for. No missions use this currently.

HBMC posted the stuff I found most interesting. 55 point Chimeras made me very happy!

I also like the 35 point Rhinos for Sisters and Inquisitors.

Funny how GW says they won't reallign points values for items within multiple codexes, but FW will. It's a shame really...

Yeah the problem is that FW stuff isn't allowed in most tourneys. Otherwise I am all over that chimera points cost...and the SOB rhino points cost.

Given the significant increase in price, it isn't too big a leap of logic to see that it will do something different in the new rules, something worth +20 points (or +10, given that this is GW).

Armoured Firebase might be a Guard rule that allows tanks to move and fire guns yes, so unless we get an update to IA1 we won't know. We'll just have to wait. My money's on that rule being for firing the lasguns + passenger weapons, but we'll see.

55 point Chimeras and 35 point Rhinos, Ooh yeah!

The vehicle upgrades make interesting reading, 20 points for camo netting?

Hah, the heavy stubber is now the same price as the storm bolter. Extra armour has been ramped up though. So much for the gains I guess.

I bet the 20 points for camo netting 'really' should read Improved Coms perhaps.

By that do you mean most tourney's don't allow FW rules or they don't allow FW models?

55 points for a Inquisitional Chimera (with weapons) isn't so bad, though I'm hoping that the IG version can lose some of the Special Rules (i.e. Amphibious, Armored Firebase, Mobile Command Vehicle) for a lower points cost (i.e. 40 pts).

Also, how about AV11 sides to make it mobile? Yes?

You don't get it do you?

These are the new Chimera rules. All Forge World is doing is copypasta-ing them for the new update. These special rules aren't Inquisitorial Chimera special rules, they're Chimera special rules. What you're looking at is a preview of the new Codex Guard.

my guess is that camo netting is an upgrade that lets you have a cover save nomatter if your behind cover or not. Looks like improved comms might go the way of crew escape mech.

Yup. That and the drive-belt for the saw-blade really impressed me. FW do it right.

I'm confused on the application of these rules. Are they meant to apply to any game of 40k, or just games which include Forge World models?

Oh Yer, There are plenty of mistakes:

1) None of the Vehicles mention can/cannot carry Terminators + if they take up two spots
2) LS Tempest - there is no such thing as a White Scars army anymore (yes, i know about Khan)
3) Grey Knights Crusader - "Two twin-linked assault cannons"
4) Sisters of Battle Rhino - Also a transport option for Retributor Squads
5) Repressor - Extra Armour is only +5 Points
6) Razorback - No Multi-melta option - even tho ForgeWold produce one (i'm just pissed cause I own one)

That being said, most tournies that I go to in Australia allow ForgeWorld - so my Sisters Army just got even more Sexy.

edit: I also just noticed that Grey Knight Dreadnought cannot replace its left arm for Missile Launcher

Imperial Armor is a supplement to 40K, just like Apocalypse or Cities of Death. If you and your opponent agree to playing a game using the Imperial Armor rules (just like you would for playing a game of Apocalypse or Cities of Death) then you would be able to take units from the Imperial Armor rules.

So in short, this is a nice little catch-all update for people who want to use the newest vehicle point rules and point costs with their (for example) Dark Angel armies. But just as they suggest in the official rulebook document this is something the players have to be okay with doing.

And as for 'Armored Firebase' for the Chimeras do you notice how the vehicle no longer has any fire points listed? I can almost guarantee that this is a new rule to cover how the lasguns/back hatch work. Hopefully it will be a little more descriptive than previous versions.

Ah yes, the good old discussion of how those six lasguns are actually the lasguns of the infantry riding inside and the inevitable degradation into a fight about how storm troopers can't poke their hellguns out of those same holes and instead magically get lasguns instead.
