This has already been posted on Warseer by a friend of mine, but been asked to place this here too so I've rewritten slightly to fit.
Right you lot, got some bad news from GW Swansea.
It looks like on the night of November the 20th, GW Swansea was broken into.
Oddly enough, stock wasn't touched, but staff armies were stolen.
The stolen items are -
Rob McTaggart (Manager)'s Black Templars army
Identifying features include -
- Urban Basing
- Free Hand Symbols/Banners
- Chaplain Terminator
- Scratch Built Emperors Champion (Bare headed)
- 10 Assault Terminators
- All the Crusader squads have Bretonnian shields, while the Neophytes have Bretonnian bits and at least one has a personal banner. (3 squads).
- A couple of dreadnoughts.
Doug Cameron (Full Timer)'s Lizardmen army
-All unpainted
- 1 Carnosaur, 3 Carnosaur riders, 10 Terradons, 20 Terradon Riders, 6 Salamanders with skinks, 7 Kroxigor, 3 Slann, 4 Skink priest, 1 of each of the 4 skink heros, Scar-vet on Cold One, 26 Cold one riders, 92 Saurus, Limited Edition Standard Bearer, 12 Skinks, 10 Chamelion Skinks
Nick Sjolund (Part Timer)
Nick had his Grey Knight army (With converted Deathwatch), Orks and Necrons stolen. Unable to get an exact list of what went missing.
Strangely, it was only staff armies that were stolen, my friend Gareth's White Panthers case was ransacked, yet nothing taken. Graffiti and paint were sprayed on the walls out the back of the store, and someone had the sense to urinate on the floor.
Guys, be aware of any armies fitting these descriptions coming out of Swansea, and South Wales in general. Keep an eye on ebay or any other online auction sites, and keep an ear to the ground. If anyone has any information leading to the recovery of these armies, please contact me.
Cheers,
Karl

Yeah, but then I suppose if you're going to break in somewhere to begin with, then that's not much further down the scale of incompetence :(
Annoying as the Lizardman army was 14,000 points total, and 11,000 got taken by the idiot/idiots that did this :(

Not anyone that I've pissed off, I'm not a staff member, just a vet that's trying to help them get the stuff back....but the staff aren't exactly hostile to anyone either.
EDIT : And yes, I play Guard

I'm guessing this is just drunken vandalism. That they left the stock alone tells me they weren't interested in stealing anything that's easily resellable. They probably stole and destroyed those armies just because in their addled little minds they recognized that it'd hurt the owners. Probably on drugs, too.

Somehow, I doubt they'll put CSI Swansea into overtime trying to track someone who robbed a toy store.

Well, the till and mail order terminal apparently got taken as well, and they have actually had forensics teams there as apparently whoever did it left some prints on a spray can, as well as said offending puddle.
So yeah, whoever did it can't have been too bright.

It sounds like people who knew and disliked the staff.
An organised thief would have taken boxed items which would be much easier to sell.
Any heavily converted army is more recogniseable.
I hope the staff belongings are covered by the shop's insurance. It couldn't replace the hours of work that have gone into the armies but at least they would be able to replace the models.

Usually regulars. Ages ago, there was a good game shop in Gainesville, Florida that was robbed by people who went there all the time. There was no "official" proof that they did it, but quiet confessions got around, and they still had the nerve to show up in the store once the owner found out. All he did was ban them from the store, but I'm sure he wanted to do worse.

I used to work for GW and i'd definately enjoy urinating on the floor of a GW store.
Everytime i walk past a gw store i see the beardies in there acting like it's a hippy commune whilst the independant stockists fight like hell to make tiny profits.
Good luck catching them however. It's probably worth looking for the models on ebay as thats where most knocked off gear ends up.

did the staff or anyone for that matter have pictures of their armies? If so, post them bad boys up, so that anyone checking on ebay or other trade sites will be able to determine if a "good" deal is nothing more than hot goods being trafficked..

seriously, what kind of people rob a place (well, degenerates obviously) but they obviously had a beef with the shop if they graffiti'd and urinated there, that's just weak.
a walk around the block and some fingers slammed in some heavy doors are in order (my shop was broken into twice recently, and I know how frustrating it can be)

He wars on Death, for lives; not men, for flags. |
