I got fourteen out of fifteen, I'm off to Grammar school! How's about you?

The 11+ was an exam that all British kids were required to take upon leaving primary (elementary for you Yanks) school to determine whether they went on to Grammar school and a chance at university or to Secendary Modern to a life with very few chances. Thankfully this system has been all but dismantled in the modern UK.

Opinions are like arseholes. Everyone's got one and they all stink.

13 out of 14.

Lost out on two of the numbers and got a little thrown.

Mind you, I wasn't *allowed* to take the 11+. Moved from Scotland (where it doesn't exist) to England aged 11, and the snooty arseholes in the Grammar schools weren't interested, despite my high IQ.

wacky test. it looks very much like an IQ style test: all ability and no knowledge.

I missed the final question, I couldn't figure out the pattern, but apparently I'd still be allowed to go to whatever school this tests for.

Just scraped in on 11, had both word codes wrong, couldn't figure it out in the time limit so guessed (wrongly) and got two of the last set wrong as well, the second and fourth questions.

But seriously thats all that defined if you went to Grammer school eh? Wacky.

I passed by a good margin in real life when I was 11 and went to a snooty grammar school (promptly went to the most classless sixth form I could as soon as I could though). I got 15/15 on the test here, but one question was a lucky stab in the dark due to time ticking down, and another I had figured out the wrong formula but my formula ended up with the right result (woohoo).

edit: oh and the last question
Spoiler:
is every other number is a different pattern, so add 2,2,2 and add 1,1,1. I hate that kind of question as it is actually 2 sequences of numbers tied together which is cheating!

15/15, but took the full 10 minutes and had to take an 'educated guess' on one of the maths questions.

14 out of 15. But I confess I had to take it twice. The first time I thought the words in the brackets like THI()ECK was supposed to be a single complete word. Then after I submitted it I though "10, I can't be that dumb can I?" went back and read it and reloaded the page and took it again. I got one of the sequence questions I missed the first go by accident on the second one.

Once upon a time, I told myself it's better to be smart than lucky. Every day, the world proves me wrong a little more.

the number brackets one using the letter codes. So I guess on those three questions
and got the last one wrong all on my own.

I got 16. They are some interesting pattern recognition questions, and, as usual for tests like this, comprehending the ponderous instructions is half the battle. But then again, what's a better preparation for real life than poorly written instructions and unfair standards?

Well, 16 out of 15 should put you in the top few candidates.

“We may observe that the government in a civilized country is much more expensive than in a barbarous one; and when we say that one government is more expensive than another, it is the same as if we said that that one country is farther advanced in improvement than another. To say that the government is expensive and the people not oppressed is to say that the people are rich.”

This leads to some interesting questions:

1) Are Dakkites smarter than average british 11 year olds?
2) Is the test provided not nearly as tough as the one given in practice?
3) Are we all lying like rugs?
4) is anybody scoring less than a 13/15 just not posting their response?

I'm going to assume that with most of us being adults of at least some college education, an IQ test for 11 year olds might a bit easier, although that last question was a dirty trick.
