Well, here's the latest WIP from my growing Altansar Eldar army...Wraithlords. Just finished building them.

Right now, my plan is to equip them with a bright lance and wraithsword. Somewhat non-standard, but I think it will work.

But what if I change my mind, and want to equip them with a bright lance and an Eldar missile launcher, as lots of others do?

No sweat.

Or maybe I want lots of dakka...like a shuriken cannon and scatter laser.

Of course, there's always the chance that I'll want to field a starcannon/scatter laser combo.

If I'm shaving points, maybe I only want one weapon?Or even no extra weapons...just the flamers.

I love having options.

How I did it:

Drilled and reamed a hole into the left shoulder lower weapon mount and the right forearm and mounted magnets in place.

The shoulder weapons were simple...another magnet fit nicely into the upper weapon mount, which gave me an option of two different shoulder mounted weapons. I picked the bright lance and scatter laser as the two that were probably exclusive to each other.

The hand-mounted weapons were a bit trickier. I originally tried using another magnet, but the ones I had were too thick and ended up looking odd. So I found some #1 sheet metal screws that had heads that were reasonably flat and the right size, drilled pilot holes into the hands, and screwed them in. It holds pretty well...I wouldn't pick up the models by the weapon/hand, but it doesn't fall off without significant external force either.

For the ranged weaponry, I drilled and glued two pins into place on the hand portion, and then I drilled two holes of sufficient depth into each of the ranged weapons I intended to have hand-held. It holds it in place pretty well, and the weapons are reasonably interchangeable. Not quite as easy as with the magnets, but it gets the job done.

Well I kind of moved near Toronto, actually.

Using the screws is clever.

Can I look forward to seeing this in Altansar colours?

Though guards may sleep and ships may lay at anchor, our foes know full well that big guns never tire.

Centurian instead of using sheet screws another thing that works great and gives you actually uses less room are tap nails.

You could do them on the guns also more then likely.

My only suggestion is that you toss the sword out of the window

Other than that it looks fine to me, Although I prefer both weapons to be shoulder mounted.

Making swappable weapons by dual-shoulder-mounting would have been tough...

And I'm theorizing that the sword + BL combo will work well in my army. Not for everyone, but i've got a fairly specific build in mine, and going BL/EML wouldn't necessarilly be all that more useful.

I would go with the BL + Wraithblade + Flamers , is a brilliant combo, i use it all the time, can take out tanks( BL + WB), heavy infantry ( BL + WB) and light infantry ( FLAMER!! )

I second the idea of using carpet tacks or some other type of short nail in place of the screws. Those still do stick out a bit. Different options for the next ones would be to get smaller magnets!

The screw heads were actually close to the exact size I was looking for. There's a kind of wrist piece that sticks out from the hands that I cut off and filed down.

Looks great, I just did the same thing for my Autarch. Not that I'll use him much, but it's nice to have options!

What harm can it do to find out? It's a question that left bruises down the centuries, even more than "It can't hurt if I only take one" and "It's all right if you only do it standing up." Terry Pratchett, Making Money

"Can a magician kill a man by magic?" Lord Wellington asked Strange. Strange frowned. He seemed to dislike the question. "I suppose a magician might," he admitted, "but a gentleman never could." Susanna Clarke Jonathan Strange & Mr. Norrell
