Hey all!

I first started with orks way back in 06. In the beginning I was inspired by WAAAGH Grishnak from WD 300 and 310. Started off with a 400 pts "strong" army and worked my way from there.

Now however I`ve assembled enough that I`m at approx 4000 pts...and I changed my paint scheme

Anyhoo, to entertain ya some more - `ere`s pics:

Finished trukk boyz mob:

Finished lootas mob:

Finished shoota boyz mob:

Finished 50% of the `ard boyz mob:

Now that`s all the stuff I`ve completed. Yet to come in more or less in this order:
- the last 10 `ard boyz
- 20 strong grot mob
- 10 tankbustas
- killa kans
- 2*looted wagons
- deff koptas
- warbuggies

Ehm..think that`s about what adds up to my 1850 pts list.

C&C if ya feel like givin`some

R

Thanks mate Yeah I spent some time getting a palette that would bring some contrast but still be coherent.

I`m having a game in two weeks so I aim to get quite a bit done before that so I should be able to provide plenty `o pics

Subtle but effective conversions, a very good paintjob and simple basework. You sir, got one damn fine army.

I'd like to see some more pics of the Lootaz...

I see things a little differently. I suggest:

Making the reds brighter. Your greens, reds, and metals are all at the same value. Because they are so close to each other, there is nothing that stands out- it all blurs together. They're all done well, but because of the above issue, they just don't stand out (pop). If they eye doesn't move about the figure, the mind finds it less interesting.

If you were to push your Red, you create areas for the eye to move about on the figure, which intrinsically makes people like it more. You could also add brighter areas by creating wear areas on the metal.

Also need brighter pictures. Your first pict was great, the others make it really hard to make a call on.

Good looking Orks. I especially like the Ard Boyz. They stand out and fit the image of Ard Boyz, IMO.

I like how the eyes stand out and the red clump of hair(?) on their heads of the boyz. (sorry, it's a bit hard to tell what is on their head).

The one thing that I did notice immediately is how each model has the same color pants and that the boots blend in a little too much to the base.

Overall, I really like the army and look forward to seeing more in the future.

No earth shattering, thought provoking quote. I'm just someone who was introduced to 40K in the late 80's and it's become a lifelong hobby.

Hi

A touch of green static grass on the base would help bring out the colours IMO.

I like the paint job - very nice.

Having one accent colour go through the army would help them stand out a little more - eg, the pale blue you use for the eye pieces if that was used on a few other items, or yellow somewhere across most of them.

Cheers

First of all, thanks for all of the great comments!

@Anung In Rana:
Thanks for noticing Just wait though, my non-troop choices are converted in a higher degree

@Moopy:
Thanks for that review of my paint scheme
I feel though that a lot of the highlights are washed out in the process of taking the picture. However my plan behind the scheme is that the bright green skin is the focal point with the eyes, teeth and blue tongues/lips drawing the attention to the face. The weathered red paint on the metals and yellow checkers are done in that way so that they blend but still contrast enough with the grubby browns.

I may highlight it further sometime in the future but for now this is the standard I`ll go for as it`s good enough as far as table-top standards go Oh and I`ll take the few minutes it takes to edit the pics a tad more!

@Sarigar:
Thanks! The `ard boyz are one of my fav units and also the one unit that always seems to pull it off game-wise.
The "clump of hair" are mohawks, I`ll provide better pics of it.
The trousers I vary between terracotta and beastial brown, the shirts between bleached bone and bubonic brown. I hate painting boots for some reason so I kept them simple.

@tallmantim:
I plan on adding some gras as soon as I`ve taken a look at my friends new table. The muted yellow checkers, yellow cables and blue lenses are probably the most coherent colours I`ve got going here.

@petelee:
They are indeed mohawks

Again thanks all for the comments! Stay tuned for more updates and don`t be afraid to ask for more detailed pics of stuff either.

Hello Red!

Good to see that you show your d**n Orks to the good people on Dakka too.
You'll be seeing my table in time, when it's good and finished. And I still got plenty of grass flock left...

I know the feeling! Also typical that when I got started on them again I just had to improve the paint scheme which also eats up precious hobby time. Here`s a pic with the old Barry for the army and a mohawked trukker:

My orks are quite battle-hardened so it`s only right that they look the part these days

Thought I`d also show some WiPs of what`s in line after the first 1850 pts:

Looted wagon w/skorcha:

which the tankbustas will hitch a ride on:

(still WiP, not done converting these!)

Meganobs:

w/Warboss:

a Battlewagon-bot:
(will most likely turn into a "normal" BW and I`ll build a couple of digga-stompas instead)

Loving the big stuff as well as the painted stuff. Are the guns on those boyz rusted? I can't really tell.

@malfred:
A tad rusty but mostly weathered paint.

@Teek:
I think it enhances the alien nature of the orks as well as being a nice contrast colour.

Update time!

After painting the `ard boyz, shoota boyz, lootas and trukk boyz it feels great to actually build and convert something again. I mean...I`ve painted 64 orks and a trukk since I started renovating the kruy! Very glad I did though :lol:

On to da pics:

I`ll start with some of my current fav minis in the Kruy, the bomb squigs

I added antennas on them so that they can be detonated from a distance. I`m planning on making a remote for the nob, just have to figure out how I want it. Other than that I`ve done all the stuff I need on the tankbustas bar removing moldlines. They are very quickly turning into one of my fav mobs"

Next and related to the whole squig-theme is my first runtherder:

I used the nob body from the ork boyz sprues just to have him a tad bigger than a normal boy but smaller than a nob. Rightly so regarding their status in ork society imo. Really happy with this mini, just need to greenstuff the squig, add some plates and finally some gravel on the base.

Finally, here`s an updated pic of the gobsmasha:

Not much left to do on it honestly, but it`s turned out better than I hoped for (again imo). To keep in line with the open-topped part I made space for the boyz as you can see with the tankbustas enjoying the ride.

That`s all for now, do leave some comments though
