"Newly elected Republican National Committee Chairman Michael S. Steele plans an “off the hook” public relations offensive to attract younger voters, especially blacks and Hispanics, by applying the party's principles to “urban-suburban hip-hop settings.”

The RNC's first black chairman will “surprise everyone” when updating the party's image using the Internet and advertisements on radio, on television and in print, he told The Washington Times."

He's right you know, I didn't vote for Mcain because he wasn't off the hook, in fact he was completely on the hook. I would have voted for him if he changed his name from McCain to "M.C. Kain" and carried a Diamond studded cane and vowed to Pimp slap the economy till it got back in line.

And whilst you're pointing and shouting at the boogeyman in the corner, you're missing the burglar coming in through the window.

Well, Duh! Because they had a giant Mining ship. If you had a giant mining ship you would drill holes in everything too, before you'd destory it with a black hole

In other news the newly appointed attorney general calls the same people who just voted Obama into office, a nation of cowards.

Change I can believe in!

http://www.breitbart.com/article.php?id=D96E53483&show_article=1

WASHINGTON (AP) - Attorney General Eric Holder described the United States Wednesday as a nation of cowards on matters of race, saying most Americans avoid discussing unresolved racial issues.
In a speech to Justice Department employees marking Black History Month, Holder said the workplace is largely integrated but Americans still self-segregate on the weekends and in their private lives.

"Though this nation has proudly thought of itself as an ethnic melting pot, in things racial we have always been and continue to be, in too many ways, essentially a nation of cowards," said Holder, nation's first black attorney general.

Race issues continue to be a topic of political discussion, Holder said, but "we, as average Americans, simply do not talk enough with each other about race."

He urged people of all races to use Black History Month as a chance for frank talk about racial matters.

"It is an issue we have never been at ease with and, given our nation's history, this is in some ways understandable," Holder said. "If we are to make progress in this area, we must feel comfortable enough with one another and tolerant enough of each other to have frank conversations about the racial matters that continue to divide us."

He told Justice Department employees they have a special responsibility to advance racial understanding.

I dunno, I kind of see where he is coming from on it.

I've never felt safe in my home than when I know my neighbours. And the only way to achieve that is to talk to them.

A lot of racial prejudice is just that, sheer mindless prejudice. Talk to the people, and make all aware that pussy footing around is off the cards, and should someone say a derogatory comment, it's not necessarily intended so. That sadly is just they way they were brought up.

Lets look at the core principal of many racist peoples views. All (insert race here) are (insert bad thing here). Which is patently nonsense most of the time. Of course, with any stereotype, there will exist a percentage of the population seemingly desperate to tick all the boxes.

The concept that a nation that elects a (insert ethnic background here) President who then selects an (insert ethnic background here) who then says that nation is made of cowards because we, like you know look beyond skin color already and don't need to hear your PC mantra at us because hey our kids have so moved beyond that they don't even understand what you're talking about, is nonsensical on its face.

Yes and no Frazz.

I think South Park illustrated it really well with the Episode where Chef campaigns to change the flag, which was previously white people dancing around a black person being hung.

At the end of the episode, it suddenly becomes clear to Chef that the children simply didn't notice the relative colours of the flag.

I genuinely believe that with each new generation, racism, sexism and homophobia cannot help but decrease. Look at Britain. 40 years ago, being Homosexual was a criminal offence, which could get you sent to prison. Similarly, Blacks in the US....50 years ago they couldn't vote, and were subjected to racial segregation, and now you guys have a President who happens to be Black (I put it that way out of respect for both Obama and McCain, neither of whom made race an issue during the election campaign. Hats off to both!).

And yet it still lingers. Getting communities to talk to one another can help break down the few remaining prejudices on both sides, advancing the cause of tolerance.

Frazz did bring up a good point, the AG, like Steele, seem to look more and more like products of a bygone age. for the A G that nation of cowards ruined what ever point he was trying to make. Steele ruind what ever chance he had of changing things with his Fail at trying to sound hip. Along with Jessie "Cut off you sack" Jackson. Al "I feed of of people's misery" Sharpton. They are finding themselves out of place and lost in the 60s. I didn't mention the Naacp because It's simply a non factor to anybody under the age of 55. They, like Steeles, hip hop radio ads arn't needed or even wanted anymore.

.... Austin being place in Texas I'm assuming/can't be bothered to google then yes ?

Don't tell me there's democrats down there-- you'll shatter all my carefully constructed ideas and preconceptions. Next you'll be telling me that not every American is either fat or super skinny !

I work hard for my delusions.

Isn't that where that (sorry if I spell this wrong) Kinky Freedman ( something like that anyway) comes from ? I have vague memories of seeing him campaigning for....err..... I want to say Sheriff but I doubt that's right as he was talking about Abortion, motorways and cigars (?) when I saw a clip of him on the idiot box a couple of years ago.

I've been meaning to dig around about this actually.

The city yes. Leave the city limits and you return to Texas. So, you're both right

Austin has been called Berkeley East. the city mantra is 'Keep Austin Weird.' The only place to have a large following for a transvestite bum who continuously runs for city council/mayor whatever. He was pointed out to me wearing a tutu when I was on 6th street once. My thought was, 'man this place is ed.'

Kinky ran for governor. His theme was "kinky for Governor. Why the Hell not?"
I voted for him.

So the GOP's takeaway from the 2008 election is that they need hipper, better advertising. Wow. That is an epic fail.

The problem isn't that the turd the GOP's offering to younger voters isn't polished enough. The problem is that it's a turd.

Start focusing on fiscal responsibility and they might have something. Talk up how the Baby Boomers retiring will mean soul-crushing taxes for all the younger generations unless we start spending sensibly. Talk about how the GOP will be the best friend of those wanting to start their own businesses. The GOP will be just fine with some new leadership and ideas.

Of course, keep up with the unrelenting social conservatism and pandering to stuffed shirts and rednecks, and they're looking at a long run of epic fail.

Mind you, it's not like the GOP is the only organization ever to think a fancy new facade will fix structural problems within the building. I can vouch for that...
