Well, as I sit here eating my first pancake of many, I think, is there anything you would like to share about pancake day? Any memorable events or even just what you put on your pancakes! (I prefer Lemon Juice and Sugar, mmm...)

Pancakes are awesome. Thanks for suggesting them, I'm about to have lunch so now I know what to get.

I have heard many, many many MANY good tales of this place...is it truly as good as they say ?
The poor man really has a stake in the country. The rich man hasn't; he can go away to New Guinea in a yacht. The poor have sometimes objected to being governed badly; the rich have always objected to being governed at all

Is that actual gravy or that abomination masquerading as gravy that Mr. Frazzled/his fellow texans bang on about ?
having just ggogled the place it does look fething lush.
I was initially bemused that it doesn't just serve, well, pancakes, but then I remembered it IS in America.
err...
crispy bannanananananana ( I know how to spell the word, I don't know how to stop) caramel cheesecake.
You.... you...you fry cheesecake ? You wacky wonderful people !
I am horrified at the concept of savoury pancakes still though.

The gravy I am talking about is made from the grease used to fry said chicken fried steak. It is made by mixing milk, flour, and some black pepper and slowly stirring until the mixture thickens. It's basically more fat and cholesterol for the arteries.
Great, now I want some chicken fried steak.
This is America, we fry anything and everything, including candy bars.
You'd love Scotland. Seriously. Not the Scottish, but there you go.
I was most heartened by the fact that ALL the salads come with chicken, except possibly the "small house" which is so poor it doesn't even merit a full description.
Top work !

I like pancakes with lots of butter and maple syrup. All that other stuff is making me sorta nauseous. And by the way, the gravy in question is not finished until you add in a bunch of chunky overcooked pork sausage.
Real maple syrup FTW! Not that stuff in a bottle, Mrs. Butterworth's etc. - real maple syrup from a tree, just like my Uncle Ernie used to make (and my cousins still do - although they don't have the buckets on the tree anymore. Progress, they have taplines running all over the woods that go downhill to the sugar house).

well, here's how my family celebrates it, or celebrated it (I forgot about it this year, now that i'm living on my own...)
-Bratwursts/british bangers/some sort of large sausage, lots.
-Pancakes (though i would go for waffles, myself...) with warm maple syrup and/or butter syrup and strawberry/blueberry compote(basically, mashed heated X-berries with a bit of added sugar, sometimes even cranberries)
and lots of milk, because milk is the only healthy thing you can get out of this kind of meal >.>
still, always nice in the cold winter months of Ottawa... course, i live in burnaby/vancouver now, but still...
I prefer piklets to pancakes, or rather piklet batter, which I make up and eat raw...

I too enjoy Crepes, but they now remind me of that Will Ferrell NASCAR movie :-( As for the best thing to put on Pancakes? Nothing. I can eat piles of undoctored pancakes.
I got my worst case of food poisoning EVER!!! from an IHOP. I had had the black bean chili omelet from there. With in an hour my stomach was all kinds of rumbling. Later on the general feeling of unwellnes settled in and about all I could manage to do was go to sleep. The next day I wake up having to go to work and the room is spinning. I could call in but there is a major problem here... it happens to be Superbowl Sunday. I know if i call in they will think i am faking it. So... I went to work... feeling like I was going to throw up the entire way just to walk in and tell then that "I am too damned sick to do this and if you want to fire me for it go ahead but I am here showing you exactly how sick I am and if I stand here another few minutes I will throw up on your shoes." One of the managers still wanted me to stay but the closing manager actually having a brain in her head realized exactly what was going on and sent me home. I took the bus from there which was an hour and a half of hell. I nearly did lose it twice when ever I smelled food. I finally made it home and just slept like I was dead for about hours after that. Missed the Superbowl and everything. Felt considerably better the next day. Needless to saw... It was a good year before I would step foot in an ihop again. It was three years before I went back to the one I was served at, and I have never ordered that omelet again even though I really liked it.
hmm i think your mistake was ordering something that mixes Chinese food and western cuisine i don't think it liked that combo, but seriously a black bean chili omelet what are they thinking>?

Help me out here, but I am not seeing the chinese meets western part here. Black bean has been used quite a bit in Tex Mex. They do have regula chili covered omelets. They are quite common at breakfast places. This just used a different kind of chili.
