Hey again, I am interested to see what people think of the mighty looking 'Hierophant'.
I must say that it looks rather impressive but how good is it really?
One of the rules also confuse me slightly for it, can anyone explain this:-
Separate Detatchment: A Hierophant must be taken as a second detachment of 1-3 Hierophants, like any other Super-heavy war machines. They are taken as a single choice but are deployed and act independently.
Now I understand the majority of this, the bit I'm struggling with is 'must be taken as a second detachment of 1-3 Hierophants'
I have never played an apocalypse game before so these 'Super heavy' dudes are kinda new to me.
Can anyone explain this a bit clearer to me? And please, I need easy words and pictures where possible! LoL!
Thanks.

According to the rules, in order to take a separate detachment, you should be playing a game of over 2500 points and ideally let your opponent know ahead of time, as gargantuan creatures tend to be a real game-breaker that pretty much require specialist list building to deal with them...

That being said, you might want to take some time getting your feet wet before investing (and I do mean "investing", those things are kinda, well, obscenely expensive and time consuming) in a biotitan or, as I would assume from your post, three.

Even beyond this, the sheer amount of space required for a single heirophant to maneuver on a table is one of those cases where, unless you've got a nice big 12'x8' table available to play on, you're not likely to actually get much play out of it/them.

Things I've gotten other players to admit...

Ha, ha! I am definitely not considering buying 3! 1 is a maybe, & i am definitely not going to pay Forge world prices for it if i get one! I wasn't too sure of the 2500 point rule that you have pointed out. It kinda makes sense now though. You got that from the Apocalypse rule book i assume? I have the Anphellion Project book & haven't been able to find any reference to the above mentioned rule.
It would be hilarious to see some of my friends faces if i dropped one of those bad boys on the table!
Mass points? Any help with that? I'm assuming it's the same as Kill points.....
Thanks Dronze!

Apoc? hell no... I was going off of common sense and the old rules that were pre-Apocalypse... a.k.a. when that particular IA volume dropped.

And as far as Mass Points go, I think they're actually closer to Structure Points for Superheavies, but the Gargantuan Creature rules should be either in your book, or, worse comes to worse, the Apoc book (if you have it).

You should look at the Apocalypse rulebook; it makes the rules for superheavies presented in the IA books largely superfluous. See also IA Apocalypse, which presents rules for the forgeworld units that the main book missed out. There's also Apocalypse Reload with yet more units and formations.

The IA books were mostly written before the apocalypse supplement was released, and the superheavy/flier/etc rules in them were designed to be used in normal (albeit large) games. These days apocalypse has that niche covered.

No i haven't got the Apoc rule book, that's why i figured that all the info i need is in that.
Didn't realize that these massive lizards of Death were actually for regular 40K!

Suddenly Gargantuan creatures seem a lot more appealing.
Thanks for your comments dude.

Those 'Second Detachment' rules would only apply in a non-Apoc game, otherwise use the Bio-Titans Apoc datasheet. Yes that means that there are two sets of rules for the same unit, but that's not unusual. The Manticore currently has three sets of published rules - IA1 if you're using the Armoured Battlegroup list, the profile in the Guard Codex, and the IA:Apoc Datasheet with its wonderful 7" blasts. All depends on what game you're playing.
