Hey everyone.

New to this site, read over a few articles in the past and decided that it would be wise to join up and get some help and advice where i needed it.

I've just come back from a LONG break period and have come across the Dark Angels. In particular the Deathwing Company. This is due to their flexibility, story and look. Im generally over building the normal marine figures but i think a few squads of terminators and a heavy conversion for Belial would do me good. I'm going to start off small and work my way from there. I plan on having Master Belial, Venerable Dreadnought and 2 squads of terminators, TO START WITH. I'm unsure as to the gear i'll equip to them but im thinking assault with a squad w/ Belial and the VD can stay back and shoot while another Terminator squad walks up and picks off the scraps.

ANY help or advice would be much appreciated.

Welcome.Have only one termie squad geared for CC while the other squad holds back so they can lay down supporting fire. while slowly advancing to the frontlines.

Get a Land Raider Crusader to put those assault terminators in. It will pay dividends. I have not played my deathwing army in 5th edition yet but my old standard list in 4th edition was like this.

2x Dreads w/TL Lascannon and missile launcher

TROOPS
1x 5 man terminator squad w/heavy flamer, 3 lightning claws (inc. sgt.) and PF
this unit is attached to Belial and is in the LRC

2x 5 man terminator squads w/heavy flamer

2x Land Raiders (to serve as bunkers or trasports for the 2 other terminator squads. Alternatively those squads could deep strike)
1 Land Raider Crusader

1850 pts.

I'd really like to have outfitted the 2 squads not attached to Belial with cyclone launchers or assault cannons but just can't find the points for it at 1850.

Deathwing Army. That ussualy means in 1500points you'll have about...ohhh, 20 or so models?

Augustus5, thanks for the army list. If I'm having an assault squad with Belial what should he be equipped with. I'm trying to stick with tradition adn background stories so i was thinking Storm Bolter and Sword of Silence but thats not such a good CC combination.

For a start I was to consider only one VD and LRC so that i can stick to 1500pts. However, I'll slowly improve this with say 250pts when i get the time. My goal is to have this 1500pts army done by the end of this year. Ill put up my army list when i get it done later this afternoon.

P.S The single VD i was going to have was to have Autocannon and Missile launcher to have covering fire from the rear.

I usually use SB + Sword of Silence for Belial, but I don't have him leading a dedicated CC squad.

Most people do rate him higher with LCs, but personally I think it's a bit of a waste of his BS5 to not have him pumping out a couple of SB shots a turn... I reckon termies are best used flexibly, sticking at the 24" or so range till they've weakened their foes enough to want to get stuck in to CC.

This is just for now. When i bump it up to 1500 ill have him leading a command squad type terminator squad. which will be more suited to both ranged and CC. I think having him in the front line for now might help.

Hey I used to play as dark angels. What i like about them is they stand up alive like the whole game. And when you get in close combat you just beat the crap out of the other army it is funny
