As a vaguely related followup to the 'how much did you spend on wargaming last year' poll, it was suggested that we poll the average entertainment budget of dakka's users to see how much actually gets spent on wargaming over other things like computer games, movies, etc.

I used to spend more than 51-100 but I cut my spending back a number of months ago so I could catch up on the painting.

I'm really interested to see how this turns out.

I don't know about you guys but I've been buying basically nothing and spending all my hobby energy on actually painting. I've bought a total of $20 in the past 3 months just because I'm nervous about what's happened next.

My former employer got rid of everyone except me... Until 2 weeks ago. Then I was the last one to go. Two days later I had an interview because I never stop looking but I'm still not sitting pretty, so I'm still not buying anything.

Oh. Uh... I probably pick up a regular boxed set a month (10 marines or equialent) at most if I'm not building up anything in particular. I don't do movies or television, rarely buy vidgames anymore (obviously still play them), and haven't been boozing or using any other drugs lately. Would rather get out of debt at the moment, and I just had to spend 500 on the car. In USD it still probably falls into the 50-100 category.

My monthly budget is currently lower than before, because I'm putting my wife through college.

But, there is not a definite link between monthly budget and yearly spending. I do most of my spending, in bulk, when I get my annual bonus.

I know a kid that sold £100 of space marines to my brother for £5...... including a squad a land raider and the black reach termies

I usually buy models paint them and sell them for like 5-10 over retail, i mean its kinda fun to paint and saving up for a sisters inq army

Plus I think I need to tell my FLGS not to sell me anything that I haven't planned on buying in advance. I'm a sort of pop in for a pot of paint, come out with an Ironclad dreadnought, kind of guy. Damn you credit cards! (for making me so weak).

I'm putting in there the price of entertainment center pieces, tv, and computer parts from the last year and plans for this year. All that plus going out easily puts me into the $250-$500 range.

1000+ Thank god for a well payed jobb and support from the state due to my illness! So much warhammer budget for. But I rarely spend more than 250 to 500 on wargamming and other entertainment things

I'd say, around 300 dollars. I've cut down on the fourty K though, since I'm focusing on painting it up, since I have so much stuff.

$0.01-$50 for me, if I averaged it out. Haven't bought anything new in months and months, but I was snagging something new/used off of ebay every other week, for a while. I'm sure I could scrape together some cash for new models, but with such a painting backlog and no opportunity to play (so there's no unit(s) I could possibly "need") there's really no reason to. Took me a while to stop scouting incessantly, but I've found it's far easier on my wallet if I look for deals only once I feel I need something.

I used to drop about $50 a month on 40k, and maybe buy a few movies. But now I'm saving up for a wedding, and a house, so I stopped wargamming and buy maybe 1 movie a month. I hate it lol
