With the exception of HMBC :p, how many of you have more than 1 guard army?

I always thought it would be silly to collect 2 of the same army (rules wise anyway) but since the IG codex is so diverse I think we can easily run different types of armies.

My current army is regular cadians and uses platoons and some tanks thrown in. Now I'm considering a traitor guard army, being all carapace vets in chimeras, and using the forge world renegade models. I would probably just make it about 1000 pts tops, and more for the modeling project it would be...

Am I crazy? does anyone else have or want 2 different guard armies?

Somewhere in the unknown universe.

I have .05 guard armies. that is, a squad of Stormtroopers.

No, you're no crazy. Guard are so characterful and each army can be like playing a whole nother race. Plus, they're humans. Go for it.

Congratulations, your dismissive and conclusory commentary has provided nothing to this discussion or the wider community on whose behalf you arrogantly presume to speak nor does it engage in any meaningful way the remark it lamely targets. But you did manage to gain experience points toward your next level of internet tough guy.

I prefer to have a large enough collection of models that i can easily build any list i want, but paint everything the same so it is uniform.

Two separate and distinct IG armies.
The 13th Arkiv'l Regiment uses RT-era IG models.
The 1st Lustrian is converted from Lizardmen and uses 'vehicles' converted from stegadons and turtle shells. Currently 'borrowing' some of the 13th's tanks until the new stegadon conversions are completed.
Used to be three, but the 1st Mondovian (Catachans) got sold off a few years back.
And this doesn't include the Genestealer Cult/Lost and the Damned that I may also field using the IG codex.

I have one IG army, but technically I could have two. One is a standard IG army and the other is an IG army led by an Inquisitor.

If I start another Guard army it will be a fully Catachan themed army with Vets and Valks/Vendies.

Suffolk, where the Aliens roam.

In my old Guard army before I sold it I had four regiments.. around 12K pts worth.

Phyrexian 66th - Tank Regiment, led by a Stormblade, Scab Red coats, helmet, grey clothing. The army inc Steel Legions troops.)

Valconian 1st - Royal Guard of ruling family, Mordian and cadian, white and purple.

Hellesvour 13th 'The Black Watch'- Cadians, Black helmets, armour over grey clothing. No battle tanks, but they did have a couple of Chimera and some Sentinels, where guards at a key Lunar instalation, had recieved zero G training.

Hellesvour 88th 'The Thunder Bolts' - mostly Catachan, with a few Cadian parts, yellow camo trousers, jackets and black shirts. Typical regiment, had tanks inc Baneblade.

When I find my way back to guard. I don't think I'll do the same armies, but I'll be aiming for more than one.

I was heavily inspired by the Tanith books, and love the idea of regiments mixing on the front line.
Now that they have set up Apocalypse, it would be amazing to throw them all together in a 10K battle.

I have <1 (it's not finished yet. I lack an HQ choice for it, but I can borrow the 4 squads of storm troopers/veterans from my DH to add to the ONE basilisk, 1 sqdn of sentinels and ONE russ).

I'm OVER 50 (and so far over everyone's BS, too).

I've got .1 of a Guard army... I bought one box of guardsman just "because"; it was missing some things so I got a brand new box and got to keep the old one... now 9 and a half guardsman (With bases and the option for flamers or grenade launchers) are sitting at the bottom of my bitz box wanting to be used. Every so often I have to break out the flamer and force them back down... Trying to top my orks bitz, I'll show 'em... :/

I only have 2 distinct Guard Armies at the mo, Cadians and DKoK (But I use homebrew fluff for both, different regiments from my planet), and I am very seriously considering started one, or more of the following:

A) Renegades using the FW renegades, Catachan and Fantasy Marauders.

B) Steel Legion, a true to the fluff Mechanized Company lead by the Old Man himself. Even might use the butt-ugly Mustard Yellow uniforms.

C) An Aircav army using either Elysians or converted Cadians with swapped heads. And of course a butt-ton of Valks and Vultures.

Someone take my credit card away before I hurt myself.

Hmm... one complete infantry army (and by complete I mean 300-ish infantry models of various types. Full MechInf army (two big platoons and the usual works). Three armoured companies (counting 10 tanks as a Company). There's the Artillery Corps (10 arty vehicles), the Super-Heavy Battalion (10-Super Heavies) and then the AirCav which is really Inquisitorial, using Inquisitorial Storm Troopers, but it's six squads in six Valks supported by 50-ish various other models (squads of Arbites, Redemptionists, Inquisitors, Archo-Flagellants, etc.). Lots of stuff really. Somewhere in there are three Companies of Sentinels plus some Hellhounds. There's no overlap here - I field all of these simultaneously.

In your base, ignoring your logic.

.5, I keep getting my wants mixed up. I have two platoons of 3 squads each. A basilisk, LR, LR demolisher, a hellhound/banewolf, a chimera, two ST squads, 2 HQs, 1 sentinel, and 1 ratling squad.

With the new codex I just bought the new command squad, they come with respirators!!

I just have 1 very large Guard army. It's easier to keep track of that way.

The eye of terror.

I have no guard armies. I've heard rumors of plastic Tallarn. When they are released, I will be doing Guard.
