I started with sinishing what i own, but my gming group stopped proxying so i had to buy my whole orc army in one go

Pre oredered sometimes new models. Other purchases were all planned as new armies or additions to existing ones.

Didnt buy anything for events or because i get told to. Could happen to get me to refrain from buying anything if someone insists
i have to buy something i dont want.
Take also my time to decide, beeing not in a hurry saves a lot of money.


I tend to buy models in the afternoon or evening.

I'm trying to hold myself to buying only after I finish painting what I own. This probably will not happen as I have 4 unfinished armies. I have 4 armies because I get tired of painting the same thing and then I want to use what I paint so its a bit of a vicious cycle.

Recently, I've only "bought" models when I have store credit. (gift certificate, winning a tourney, ect.)

In general? If there's something I feel I want, and I have the money, I'll get it. (I may spend an hour wandering around the store trying to convince myself I don't actually want it, but I'll eventually cave in)

I buy whenever I see something cool for my army. I try to avoid pewter as much as possible so that helps.

Other than that it's just random impulse. "Hey, I should buy something today." is pretty much the gist of it.

I tend to buy models quite frequently, when i have the money but only after ive painted what ive got. I also buy things when i see something exceptionally cool or new models for my army come out (though not always). What im doing now though is buying models for my fantasy armies to a certain list painting one unit then buying and painting the next.

Usually the beginning of a month, so I can gradually work my way through the models I've bought over the following weeks.

When and if I ever get the money, and if there is something I need/want, I may buy something.

However, my income is nearly nonexistent, so mostly I have to make due with what I have. This would be why a large portion of my army is either highly converted or scratch built.

Recently I've bought a few Reaper minis, because they're exceedingly cheap and I needed some wizard-lady models for Mordheim... However, it's been months since I've bought a box set of anything, and that was with birthday money, lol.

You forgot the option, "Right before you get yelled at by your wife/GF for spending your rent money on stupid Toy Soldiers."

When I got enough cash, not alot them=( It's all those models I buy, never got enough cash for more...

When I see something I want and I have the money. Generally both must be true for the purchase to be made.

Lately I've not had enough money to buy everything I want, so I tend to plan and save until I'm ready to start the next project. That means every couple of months usually.

usually only when I see a good deal on ebay

I make alot of army list's and when something new come's into the picture I save up and buy it.

As of now it's Daemon Prince's and a Vindy.

I write up an army list and buy from there.Yet this is only when I have the money to do so.

Simple answer is "All the freakin' time"

When I'm bored and have nothing else to paint sometimes.

Otherwise, when I'm at the hobbyshop, I usually like to pick something up. Be it a mini or supplies. Usually just whatever looks interesting to paint.

I'm on a strict budget so it's when there's a really good deal (and only if I feel comfortable). I also try and finish everything I'm currently doing before jumping into anything else too.

I'm on an extremely loose budget i get 'round 50$ a trip to games works each time
the only problem is that my dad refuses to drive the 15 minutes to the store so i get to go once a month (if i'm lucky)

before, it was when I had the money and I saw something I wanted.

now, my parents have all but cut me off from buying 40k. I've bought way too much as it is already =)
so once I get some cash and my parents say yes, it's off to my LGS once more!

When I've got money on my account and I'm near a flgs I'll buy something. I don't get near one frequently but I plan my purchases a long time before I can buy them.

I basicly purchase the bulk of whatever army I'm interested in in one shot,then add whatever minis,paints,etc that I want as I decide to purchase them.

Voted Other. Its a matter of having the extra cash and the desire to spend it on figs at the same time. Though there is so little extra cash it doesnt happen very often lol.
