Greetings!
Tyranid's are one of the few 40K races to come from another galaxy (perhaps only 40K race if you discount C'Tan and daemons).
So far there have been three invasions, codenamed Behemoth, Kraken and Leviathan. Behemoth and Kraken were for all and intents and purposes successfully repelled (although splinter fleets still exist). Leviathan however seems set to devour the galaxy from beneath and is supposedly unbeatable.
40K players would argue otherwise, because the current Codex is rubbish
