Subject: Kroot riding tricked out, tooled up mopeds. Anyone?

Just an idea I am toying with: Kroot mercenaries that ride mopeds. I was thinking of using most of the rules for kroots and eldar shining spears (I think), with their trick riding special rules to maneuver through tough terrain.
The reason I'm posting this here is 'cause I was wondering if anyone knew of any fluff that might support kroots in a vehicle pack. I saw a kroot renegade army or two, and they are mercenaries so I figure they might go for a set of wheels if that was how they could get work.
Thanks for any thoughts.

Tomy do a very nice 1/56 (?) scale moped/scooter model in their equivalent of the old Matchbox range, which is called Tomica.

See no.104 Suzuki Skywave
I got one in Japan thinking to make it a Space Marine attack bike. The size is just right and would work well for Kroot.
I am not aware of any official fluff to support Kroots riding mopeds but it is a great concept to my advice is to write your own.
Kroot are based on American Indians, who became skilfull riders once the horse was introduced to America by Europeans. Why not a Kroot tribe who ride mopeds, having got the idea from Tau?

Thanks!
It might take me a while to figure out how to order from that site, but they do have a few bikes that look like they would be perfect.
I'm still working on the fluff... if anyone has a thought towards it, lemme hear it.

Those Tomica toy cars only cost a few hundred yen each. You can walk into any toy shop in Japan and pick them up.
Maybe someone who lives in Japan -- we have several members -- might be persuaded to bag you a bunch of them.
Or try eBay. A seller like this one may have a way of getting the toys from Japan.

Well seeing as they do become mercenaries and that they live like right next to the imperium, I have knwo doubt that they would go to some human world and trade something for a nice bike, seeing as the humans that live near the tau empire do tend to trade with them often...Oh if you do do the conversion make sure its got some dakka on it

When Kroot are hired out as mercenaries they will sometimes bring back equipment that their employers equipped them with; that could include mopeds... lol.

The mopeds won't have a lot of dakka on 'em, just to keep them light. Some will have some good gear on 'em tho. Like Tau rifles and such, as the orks wouldn't tend to use such a techy bit of weaponry.
I'm still working on the story of it all, but the Kroot will have joined a bigmek's household as mercenaries, after he finds them feasting at the end of a battle that the Tau lost.
After the big share-out the warboss gives all the techno-bits to the meks and the big mek nabs as many of the tau bits as he can to reinforce his connection to the kroots.
Then, since it's a new warboss (the previous one died in the fight), he runs the bigmek out and the mek takes his kroot with him... sort of. They are still mercenaries after all, so it's more like they flee death and dismemberment with the bigmek. But the bond had been made and the kroot continue to work for the big mek as he becomes a freebooter. Automatically Appended Next Post: Check the Stop Trukk background thread for further developments on the story if you like.
and, as always, comments of all sort are welcome. Thanks.
