Come on, the GW names are usually fairly lame - Angron as the angry primarch? Ursakar E. Creed, from the word Ursa?
Just pick out foreign words, things from mythology or astronomy, etc.
From the top of my head I just came up with "Aldebaran Thoth" - the name of a Star, and then an Egyptian God. Sounds like he could be a Librarian maybe.

Look at Latin word for things you want your character to be like. e.g. Ursa=Bear. Furor=Anger. Gladius=Sword.

The demon prince thing is very possible, aside from it ACTUALLY dieing. It would simply be banished back to the warp, or killed in reality. That aside, the idea it would kill it with its own sword is actually possible. And yes, you can indeed cut its head off. People need to read more fantasy fluff for daemon facts...

From those that would not heed we offer praise to those who do, that they might turn their gaze our way and gift us with the Boon of Pain, to turn the Galaxy red with the blood, and feed the hunger of the Gods."

Obviously. Clearly that is the most concerning hole in the average knowledge of the human being.
If your playing Orks this is easy, you just take funny words and smash them with a hammer. Fantasy is trickier.

In a Society in which there is no law, and in theory no compulsion, the only arbiter of behaviour is public opinion. But public opinion, because of the tremendous urge to conformity in gregarious animals, is less tolerant than any system of law. When human beings are governed by "thou shalt not", the individual can practise a certain amount of eccentricity: when they are supposedly governed by "love" or "reason", he is under continuous pressure to make him behave and think in exactly the same way as everyone else.

Well anything Latin is good for Imperial forces such as Marines, Inquisition etc. Try finding a name database, they will help alot with the naming process!

People are like dice, a certain Frenchman said that. You throw yourself in the direction of your own choosing. People are free because they can do that. Everyone's circumstances are different, but no matter how small the choice, at the very least, you can throw yourself. It's not chance or fate. It's the choice you made. |

please don't bring up that game I heard if you've heard of dante's hell you'll love it and if you've actually read the divine comedy you'll be pissed beyond all belief.
Only thing i have to say on subject is thats what happens when you "make up" a chapter. Give your chapter a general theme, the crimson fists for example appear to mostly be taken from Spainish and German names. that way you can use a source
Otherwise use your resources dig through the index astatretes, planetstrike and the how to paint marines. (just 3 things i know feature CF). Read some of the books or even just go on Lexicannum.
The universe is a huge place and i doubt theres only one Pedro Kantor in the universe.

It's not hard, just Wikipedia something to do with the army and you're set. Like when I named my Lord Inquisitor, I had just finsihed painting SoB so I Wikipedia searched the Fleur de Lis. Reading through the article I came up with the name Clovis. Of course I'll probably just end up using it in a vehicle's name because it's going to be a while before I make a Inquisitor lead army. Maybe used for a Brettonian or something like that. The harder one is naming vehicles (sounding cool, but short enough to fit on it without looking crappy and being readible). I guess try to pick a theme and stick to it rather than going and grabing anything that sounds cool and jaming it in the same army. Instead save the ones that don't match the theme for a another character in another army. thatirishguy wrote: if the imortal emporor can wrestle a ?star? dragon then my chapter master can kill a demon prince! and besides he kills him with the demon princes own sword..... but point noted. Do not read if you haven't finished Mechanicum. Just try to come up with a cool background story but not overpowered. You could say his sword was blessed and the Daemon was banished back to the warp after he just managed to defeat it in battle but not without losing a dozen or so marines. EDIT: Also use Google to find some sites listing first names, I was just searching some looking for an interesting name to use and turns out Celestine is just a French name meaning "of the sky" or "heavenly". I thought it was just psudo Latin or maybe even a throw back like nearly every Imperial name they come up with

Yes, although it's been a few years. I found it more interesting than the latter parts of the Divine Comedy. It was The Love Song of J. Alfred Prufrock that really made that section stick in my mind. Being able to recite half that annoying thing probably helps.
For those that don't know Italian: If I thought my answer were given
to one who would ever return to the world,
this flame would quake no more.
But since never from this abyss
has any returned alive, if what I hear is true,
without fear of infamy I answer you.
(Note, the poem uses the original Italian, the translation I had may differ slightly from others.)
