So the more I model, play, paint, read, etc about 40k, the more it starts to invade on my daily life. I start thinking about seeing drop pods coming down in the horizon while driving, imagining how to defend my house from tyranids etc etc...

The worst case was at class (I am a high school chemistry teacher), I was showing my kids how to do electron configuration for argon. On the board I wrote Angron.

Not a single kid understood why I started laughing.

What experiences have you had similar to this (funny or serious)?

I had a dream a few weeks back where I thought the Chaos gods were communicating with me to tell me to collect and paint chaos miniatures as fast as possible. Apparently they were not just miniatures. but would act as totems for the chaos religions. It was bizarre.

Any game system I play tends to creep in as I'm learning it then fades after a while. There was a time when I got into Photoshop and whenever I'd try drawing with a pencil my fingers would do a Ctrl+Z motion when I messed up >.<

Yeah... This is a problem with me too... I start to relate every sci-fi/fantasy movie and video games to warhammer... Just finished the first nagash book and instantly thought, "blizzard sure thought long and hard about the lich king fluff eh?" Even when I first saw Avatar it was like, "Did the IG just land on lustria and start fighting the lizardmen? Oh noes..."

Suppose i do all the time with my other hobby, roman miltiary reenactments, you can draw soooo many parallells between space marines and romans, they all worship the "emperor", the roman militaries symbol was the eagle, forces in both space marines and roman military were organised into legions! i've seen a few models with gladius type swords, (Captain sicarius being one that springs to mind!) and his transversed crest (like a centurion in the roman army).

so yeh i guess, i guess my facination with warhammer and space marines crosses over, especially when we do events, at the end we always draw our swords, bang our shields and shout out to the emperor, praising his name we just dont say WHICH emperor

the most awkward experience i had was, in class, we were reading some sci-fi extract from a book (i forgot the name) and i started to get a little dozed off, the teacher snapped and called me, and i shouted, "Gauss Flayers dead ahead!"

i practically wanted to shoot myself, like lots of faces just glaring at me...it was very awkward >.<

Being in the military every time I see a IAV Stryker or M1 Abrams battle tank, sometimes I think of what they’re Armor Value might be. (Stryker 11, Abrams 13) lol

Also, I wonder what the strength of a M16 rifle is equivalent in 40k terms. Hmm maybe strength 4 AP 4? Or lasgun style…Strength 3 AP -

In 40k terms it’s an “autogun”, with same stats as a lasgun. Bolters, at S4 AP5 are gyrojets- they fire little self-propelled armor-piercing rockets.

Usakar Creed is a tactical genius, and he can outflank anything. This means if you're a xenos or a heretic, he's going to inconvenience you non-stop by outflanking baneblades into your pants and so on. People shout "CREEEEEEEEEEED!!!!!!!!" when this happens, because they're mad at him.

Anuvver fing - when they do sumfing, they try to make it look like somfink else to confuse everybody. When one of them wants to lord it over the uvvers, 'e says "I'm very speshul so'z you gotta worship me", or "I know summink wot you lot don't know, so yer better lissen good". Da funny fing is, arf of 'em believe it and da over arf don't, so 'e 'as to hit 'em all anyway or run fer it.

-I used to teach, found some good opponents in the high school I taught at by wearing my Imperial Eagle belt buckle to class.
-Will still, to this day, throw out quotes from different GW pubs in conversation. I use the tamer, more insidious ones that almost sound normal till you examine them for just a sec. Just to see if anyone will call me on it. My favorite is "Knowledge is power, guard it well.". It's a bit of a test; lets me see who is listening, who has a brain.
-fired a man by inviting him into the office, telling him to "sit in the blue chair." I wanna see exactly how many of you actually GET that reference
