Not sure if this is the appropriate sub-forum, but anyway....

One thing I have noticed about the swap shop is the excellent reputable traders list which is a good go-to sticky for new trades and traders. One thing I humbly suggest we implement is a sticky that details the reverse; those who have ripped people off or generally been a poor trading experience. Something that struck me while I was idling through the forum was that there is one individual who has sparked a number of negative transaction reports recently; that's all well and good if you are a regular reader of the swap shop and can remember the user name but what happens when the transaction report disappears off the first page? You may not necessarily be aware that a potential trader has been involved in shenanigans before and I don't think many people would do a search to dig up old transaction reports before trading. How about some sort of sticky that details transaction reports so we can all see who the bad eggs are too?

There will be no disreputable trader sticky because we lack the means to definitively prove when someone has actually been scammed. In nearly all cases it is a simple matter of one person claiming one story and the other person claiming another story.

Transaction reports are a way for users who've had a bad experience (according to them) to post about it. The whole point is that those transaction reports are searchable like any other forum thread if people are interested in doing so.

But we're not going to get in the business of labeling some people 'disreputable' as we don't have the proof to do so. If people can't be bothered to take the time to do some research on the user they are going to trade with, then I'm not entirely sure what to tell you. Dakka existed for nearly 8 years as a site with a swap shop forum that had absolutely NO specific moderation. We at least have a bit of a format now, but ultimately it is still just a place for users to trade with each other, not any kind of sponsored trading service with prerequisite protections.

There are other sites with those kind of protections in place for those that want that kind of assurance. Anyone who takes the time to read the sticky post at the top of the swap shop forum will get all this information (and more).
