So i've been converting. I'm not particularly adept at it, having done some basic stuff but nothing really big. So here's where I've got to so far:

Split the torso of a carnifex in two, added 4 sheets of plasticard and cut to shape with a roto-cutter on a dremel, then shaped the spires more or less to the shape they should be:

Used some milliput and some paper craft balls found at spotlight to make an armature for the egg sack that was then covered in a first layer of greenstuff.

Not sure what to do with the armor on the egg sack, though maybe the trygon box has the answer

Right now I'm going to greenstuff all the gaps on the torso then start shaping some detail into it on a second layer. I've got a better idea of what i want that one to look like then the bottom.

The idea is that I'll use Trygon and Carnifex Scything Talons for the legs, though I'm not necessarily married to the idea. The end of the egg sack will have one of the Battle for Maccrage objectives cut up and glued to it, then greenstuffed in.

Thoughts?

Thoughts?

I think this looks like an awesome start is the first that pops to mind!

How about avoiding the scything talon route all together? I dunno I find they are overdone, and I find they look inappropriate sometimes to what should be a bulky animal you know? Maybe instead of spiderish, gorilla-ish could be more interesting? Something that has more in common with a pyrovore or a biovore in limb sillhouette than to a scything fex?

Just a thought, The scything talons would be fine, but you have an oppurtunity to make something unique, I would take it!

in the end I wasn't able to avoid the scything talons / spider theme, but I think I ended up with somethign quite different to any other Tervigon I've seen. This one is about to lay eggs and is protecting the sack and presenting the ... orifice.

I think I'll do another similar one, but walking with the abdomen stretched out like an ant.

There's a few spots that I'm not really happy with, and I think Priming it tonight will show a lot of flaws that i'll need to deal with before I can paint it.

Well, this was a short blog.

It looks awesome, but maybe a little spindly. Anyway, that doesn't matter, great work!

Oh my lord that looks disgusting! Haha i love it! Paint that thing all slimey and with vague veins on it, it's going to look great I think! Are you going to follow this up with painting?

Doesn't every "magnetizing tutorial" basically say 'drill holes, put magnets in holes'?

the photos don't show them well, but there's actually veins sculpted over most of the egg sack. Just got the first layer of primer done, will respray tomorrow morning and start basecoating tomorrow evening.

tim: i was hoping to have a nice detailed build log but really, it came together so fast once I had an idea of what I wanted it to look like that I didn't get a lot of time to take photos. It sat on my desk for the last two months then BAM, last week i got inspired.
