I decided to start working on a scratch-built Stormraven because it sounded fun. I'm starting out with a styrofoam base, which is really all I have at the moment. I wanted to do something new and different from most of the ones I've seen, although there are certainly similarities in there too. In any case, here are the pics of what I have so far, along with a friendly
AoBR Marine and his Dreadnaught buddy for size reference.
The first thing I'm thinking is it is BIG. Maybe too big. Maybe not.
As far as major work goes, I intend to add engine pods onto the ends of the wings, and I'm considering cutting off the two side parts so they're shorter and more flush with the end of the dreadnaught-holder bit.
The plan now is to measure up what I have and make a
CAD model, so I can make sure I get everything nice and symmetrical when I start cutting and assembling everything with plasticard. I have a bunch of bitz on the way, like weapons and hatches and whatnot. Other than that, we'll see how it goes. For better or for worse, I've so far been making most of this up as I go along.
I'm looking for advice and feedback on this, especially from more experienced modellers (which, I'm sure, would include most of you).
Thanks all!
