I've been wanting to start a new army for a while and with the release of the FW Mark armours and a desire to start a themed SW army, I decided to go with Engir Krakendoom's Great Company in Mark VI armour. I've always liked the look of the RT Era Marine armies and wanted to emulate that with a more up to date look. I also plan to expand into Egil Iron Wolf's Great Company and form a joint force of the two Wolf Lords.

Until I can convert an appropriate model for Krakendoom himself, I thought I'd convert a Wolf Lord to stand in.



He's not Mk VI, but since he's only temporary, I'm not too worried. He is currently missing an axe in his left hand. I wanted a more static pose to off-set the action poses of the rest of the Wolves.

I also wanted to have the Wolf Guard stand out a bit more so I'm using the 3rd Edition Mk VI torsos from the SW Accessory Sprue.



I figure they'll be in Mk 6.5 so they can look a bit more unique between them, instead of them all wearing the exact same armour.

The only models that won't be in the Mk VI armour will be the Wolf Scouts. I wanted the plastic kit Scouts to look more like they belong in a SW army so I added bitz from the Space Wolf Pack box to make them fit in better.




I need to convert the rest of the Wolf Guard and the Meltagun Wolf Scout and will post them when they are complete.

I've ordered 30 of the FW Mk VI marines along with some other stuff to convert into Grey Hunters and Long Fangs:



There's also a Razorback, Mk5 and Mk3 Marines for my standard Marine army as well as some Flesh Tearers Brass Etch for Twalks.

Hopefully I'll have an update soon.

looking good man, I'm actually gonna be building a few of my other assault squads today, and hopefully my other two razorbacks

I finally managed to assemble the first squad of Grey Hunters. I still need tho convert the Mark of the Wulfen and get 1 more CSM Plasmagun for the squad for it to be complete, but it's getting there.

I should have more progress done over the next day or so and hopefully have the two Grey Hunters squads done for the weekend.

I kinda like the Mk6 armor, they don't look like they're squatting anymore.

I have the same problem to fit marauder heads to marines bodies. It looks kinda stupid. The only solution i found is to shave them.

I eagerly await more.

I got my 'for now' Wolf Lord done, just need to work on the Storm Shield a bit so it doesn't defy gravity.







I might also fill in the runes on the axe. The axe is from the Beastmen Gor box.

Looking good so far, is there no way to change the rune slightly to make it a little more nordic? It just seems such a perfect place for a powerful rune to be.

The power sword on the wolf gaurd... where is that from... Its huge!
Is that off the new space Wolf bitz sprue?

The sword is from the WHFB Empire General kit. It's the Runesword.

I got the top hatches for the rhinos done today. I printed the Engir Krakendoom's Great Company Decals from Bolter and Chainsword onto some thin plasticard and cut it out with a hobby knife. It's not perfect, but I think it'll do nicely. It's probably hard to see, but I did cut where the hatches separate so the icon isn't sealing the doors shut.

Thats an interesting approach to doing the great company decal. Nice.

I finished painting the first of two top hatches for the rhinos.



Second one will be done in the next few days or so.

Where did you get the sword the Wolf Guard with red legs is holding? Been looking for something similar for awhile now.


Keep up the good work. The assault cannon turret for the Razorback is outstanding.

Awesome! I would love to have some runeswords for my Guardians XD.

I've started on the Wolf Lord. The armour, metal, fur and axe head are done. I might redo the fur and add a highlight to the armour. I also need to do the skin part of the furs among the plethora of other things.

Are you going to be doing any power-weapon effects on the sword?

I really like the beastmen axe on the lord. I had considered it, but was worried that the scale would look funny. When will I ever learn that bigger is always better in certain cases.

@wolfshadow: I think I might add some light blue glow to the runes.

@Glimpse The Void: It is indeed go big or go home for Space Wolves.

I managed to get the body of the first Grey Hunter finished. Much more pleased with the armour after adding the Space Wolves Grey highlight to it.

Wow. I wasn't sure when i saw only the leg on the test model but now it looks soooo much better.
