First let me apologize to all you skirmish maniacs out there. Some of you will remember that I started several =][=munda threads about house rules I was working on, and they sort of petered out. Work got hectic, women got naked, and
=][=munda slid to the backburner. For those who haven't looked at them, here are links to the previous threads.

Those thoughts and ideas are still bouncing around in my noggin and I would be ecstatic to hear some more feedback on those ideas. That being said, on to the meat of the post:

The "Codex" for Ordo Xenos is close to being finished. I will post it in its nearly complete state to allow you all to oogle it and give me some feedback (PLEASE give me feedback), just remember that while it is almost done, it is only almost done.

Before I post the Warband Roster, I want to briefly talk about how I derived appropriate costs for the various options, because a Deathwatch Space Marine is only 540 credits to recruit, and he doesn't have any weapons yet...

By my reckoning, we have 3 logical basis for points costs - the Juve, the Ganger and the Gang Leader.
The Juve is 25 points, and has this statline: M 4 | WS 2 | BS 2 | S 3 | T 3 | W 1 | I 3 | A 1 | Ld 6
The Ganger is 50 points, and has this statline: M 4 | WS 3 | BS 3 | S 3 | T 3 | W 1 | I 3 | A 1 | Ld 7 - for 25 points you get 3 characteristic increases and get bumped 4 rungs up the experience ladder
The Leader is 100 points, and has this statline: M 4 | WS 4 | BS 4 | S 3 | T 3 | W 1 | I 4 | A 1 | Ld 8 - for another 50 points you get 4 characteristic increases and 4 more rungs up the experience ladder

I took those 3 statlines and plotted them in their correct placement on the experience ladder found on page 86 of the Necro Living Rulebook (NLRB). What it looked like was this:

Experience........Points Cost.......Statline
0-5.....................25 pts............Juve
6-10...................
11-15.................
16-20.................
21-30.................50 pts.............Ganger
31-40.................
41-50.................
51-60.................
61-80.................100 pts...........Leader

From here it was pretty simple to do the mathematical progressions and plot out the points cost for each experience level. I have shown this below in bold. PS: I apologize for pretending to be good at math. I'm really not

Experience........Points Cost.......Statline
0-5.....................25 pts............Juve
6-10...................30 pts
11-15.................35 pts
16-20.................40 pts
21-30.................50 pts.............Ganger
31-40.................60 pts
41-50.................70 pts
51-60.................85 pts
61-80.................100 pts...........Leader

So you can see that the points cost increase follows a simple progression - every two "levels" increase in cost is 50% more than the increase in cost of the block two levels before it. Following that progression, we can extrapolate the entire experience tree with approximate points costs:

Experience........Points Cost
81-100...................120 pts
101-120.................140 pts
121-140.................170 pts
141-160.................200 pts
161-180.................240 pts
181-200.................280 pts
201-240.................340 pts
241-280.................400 pts
281-320.................480 pts
321-360.................560 pts
361-400.................680 pts
401+.....................800 pts

So, my basic Space Marine statline is M 4 | WS 4 | BS 4 | S 5 | T 5 | W 2 | I 4 | A 2 | Ld 9. Compared to the "Leader" statline, that is 7 characteristic increases. Plotting that as 7 rungs down the experience ladder, that places the space marine at the 201-240 rung, at an approximate cost of 340 points. From there I take into account the space marine's starting wargear - the Astartes Power Armour (see the Attachment below if you want to read the details for the PA). After discussion and thought and beer, my buddy and I "guessed" at the value of Astartes Power Armour being 160 points (credits). We haven't playtested yet, so costs of equipment and the like are soft and malleable, for the time being. So, the space marine's recruitment cost is 500 credits - and you still need to buy him some gear. Though he would still be awfully effective with just his fists...

With that peak into the terrify corner of my psyche complete, and without further ado, here is the Ordo Xenos Warband Roster (the Ordo Xenos "Codex" for =][=munda)...

Edit: Now including Malleus and Hereticus. Therse aren't quite complete (the Mechanicus archetypes aren't quite done yet, for example), but we're about to start playtesting, so I would love your feedback.

There is an attitude that not having an insanely optimized, one shot, six stage, omnidirectional, inevitable, mousetrap of an assassin list army somehow means that you have foolishly wasted your life building 500 points of pure, 24 karat, hand rolled, fine, cuban fail. That attitude has been shown, under laboratory conditions, to cause cancer of the fun gland.

Just FYI, I've been coming up with some Necromunda one-off battle "codexes" which I'll be posting at some point. They're basically for two purposes: 1) to fight one off battles between forces comprising of pretty much your entire WH40K collection and 2) for a GM to put together a set-rating warband to fight against an existing necromunda gang. In the research for it I've found that the majority of things in Necromunda have a rating equal to the WH40K 2nd edition price times 10.

Example:
Imperial Guardsman (2nd ed): Ganger 50 Pts + Lasgun 25 Pts + Laspistol 15 Pts + Flak Armour 10 Pts = 100 Pts
In 2nd ed an IG squad is 100 Pts / 10 = 10 Pts per Guardsman.

Therefore power armour would work out at 120 Pts. About the only thing that doesn't work out like this is the Needle rifle for some reason. It's much more in Necromunda.

Good work though dude, and thanks for the inspiration.

Being able to wound someone is a big aspect of staying alive in Necromunda. Since the needle weapons bypass wounding, they are respectively given high cost values. In Anthony Case's Community Edition, he lowers the cost of the Needle Rifle to 180 down from 230 though.

That's probably a bit better. I clocked a rattling sniper at 330 Pts, which is more than a Chaos Space Marine.

Oh wow. This is a treasure trove. I'm definitely going to have to look the links over more thoroughly to see if there's anything we can use here!

There's plenty more where that came from, including all Necro skillsets expanded and all new skillsets!!

Not to mention that the rules for Corruption are almost finished!

First I want to say thanks. This is a crazy amount of work, and I will be sure to make use of it.

I haven't gone through any of them with much detail, but at first glance all I can say is, "What, now orks?" That's it though. I'm quite thankful for the Tau gear list, too.

I'm still very excited to fiddle through this and see where it ends up. Thanks again.

*edit*
...found them

and just the orks I was hoping for, kommandos. Thanks again!

This part is in no way finished, but it *should* allow you to playtest and try out my lists, as they are balanced around these house rules...

Work continues on the Ordos lists and the Rules Addendum, but...

work has begun on specific race "kill team" style lists.

In the works are Craftworld Eldar, Dark Eldar, Orks and Kroot.

Also in the infant stages are Chaos Cultists and Adeptus Mechanicus.

Automatically Appended Next Post:
Totally forgot, there is a new addition to the Hereticus list (I will update the download later)... the Living Saint!!

This is an upgrade for an Inquisitor, Interrogator, Canoness or Confessor, elevating him or her to Sainthood, a la Celestine in the Witchhunters codex.

You'll see the rules soon, I promise!
