Subject: World of Darkness MMO - announced (VtM confirmed setting)
Okay some folks may know from my time here I have a massive axe to grind with the nwod, but even with all my dislike of it as a setting, I was still willing to consider the MMO that CCP was working on.
Well it finally got revealed.
Looks awesome aye, but when I watched it I thought it looks a bit Gothic, I thought they pulled away from that when they switched to Requiem. Well it turns out either White Wolf had a change of heart, or CCP realised which was the better setting, because to my eternal joy, they have set the MMO on Masquerade.
I cannot express the happiness on this, partially as it means if they ever add Werewolves in a future expansion they will be the tribes from Apocalpyse, but also should it prove popular, it may lead to a reboot of the WoD, and even with all my anger from the changeover to nwod. Should White Wolf start releasing WoD stuff again, I'd be an eternal slave to their company once again.
Oh and nice to see they are working on whats important for a VtM game.
edit - modified the title now my moment of joyful bouncing has calmed slightly.

If so I would like to se how they handle Magi and Garou before I put a vote in for this.
n'oublie jamais - It appears I now have to highlight this again.
It is by tea alone I set my mind in motion. By the juice of the brew my thoughts aquire speed, my mind becomes strained, the strain becomes a warning. It is by tea alone I set my mind in motion.

Thats a good point, I see two options really.
One, they've given it the name in preperation for future additions, as I'll really be shocked if it does have Mages and Garou in it at launch, but it may have Humans in the form of Witch Hunters, Imbued, Ghouls and Mortals to be embraced. Maybe all or none of those Mortal options of course.
Two, I am shocked and it does come out with Magi and/or Garou in it. I'd probably dance lots if the latter are in at launch.
Both would suit me if I'm honest, although my thoughts is it will be mainly (fully) set towards the Kindred at launch, and look to expand later. Probably set in a massive city, with limited territory outside it, but the city is actually that detailed/large, walking across it end to end would take a long period of time, and put you at risk in other Kindred's territories.

The gameworld where Twilight fans go to die?
Hehe. It's a former Tabletop RPG setting based around several different games, that set up some very interesting ideas about supernatural myths (or heavily borrowed ideas from certain sources) and was a very popular setting for a fair length of its shelf life.
Basically depending on setting you got to play a Vampire, Werewolf, Fae, Mage, Ghost and some other options including Mortal Mafia, Witch Hunters, Inquisition etc, Demons near the end, in a dark copy of our world, a bit more Gothic/Punk mind. So a example history wise, Garou (werewolves) fought on both sides in WW2, although they don't attribute Hitler as having a supernatural backer/boss, he was just a madman all on his own.
The World of Darkness was changed to a 'new' version in 2004, which is referred to as the nwod, and each setting has been modified as they have been released, so they now are in another darker copy of our world, not the same one as the original WoD. So there are players of the nwod as well, who may or may not have played the WoD.
Its now coming as a MMO by CCP (creators of Eve) much to the delight to its surviving WoD fans who rejected nwod and hopefully plenty of the fans who did go on to play the nwod. Or those who never got a chance to play WoD after it got cancelled as the nwod was the game they started with.
It does seem in part a risky move to step back to the previous edition that ended six years ago, but I am very grateful to CCP that they have done so.

I enjoyed reading the books of it I got a hold of. Rules went over my head though. But that was my 1st read through. Should give it a 2nd chance to make sense really.

Expect my posts to have a bazillion edits. I miss out letters, words, sometimes even entire sentences in my points and posts.
Having a look around earlier, its 100% confirmed on the White Wolf forums by one of the White Wolf designers as based on Vampire the Masquerade so no worries of Massively making an error. This apparently won't effect nwod, in fact some folks over there are guessing thats part of the appeal, a MMO would add something to the Meta which nwod does its best to avoid.
Although they are going to start re-releasing WoD books via PDF for those who would like to try the original setting. Oh and apparently a Requiem mod for Masquerade PDF is due as well, to convert Masquerade to the Requiem ruleset, which is interesting.
Oh and because I know some folks are big fans, apparently CCP is also working on a Exalted game, by the sounds of it another MMO, although it might just be a RPG, not 100%

The only real problem with old world of darkness was that there were too many factions and subfactions. For them all to exist in the manner they do a significant proportion of the population and geography would be supernaturally connected one way or another, yet in the background noone notices.
I am happy they rejected Requiem but I hope they also heavily cut down on the volume of wierd stuff going on. World of Darkness has more supernatural powers going on than the Forgotten Realms.

Meh. Call me when they bring in Werewolves, Fera, and Hengeyokai.

So a rules system that pretentiously brags about it's rich story is becoming a game of canned quests and grinding? Sort of like how white wolf made the street fighter RPG, a storytelling game based on a game with little story. Hmm. Things do come full circle.
Twilight needs to go somewhere and die. If Vampires were real, they would more closely resemble end-stage heroin addicts and so would be just another problem for animal control. Nothing sexy about a five hundred year old corpse that sees all others as food or competition.
( I know SQUAT about Twilight. Just the jokes and commercials for the movies. )
You know the Twilight fans coming into WoD would be a hilarious thing to witness:
"I wanna be a vampire!" While looking for a vampire they run into a Nosferatu and go through the change. "I'm not sparkly! I'm hideous, bald, pointy ears and bad teeth!" Deletes character. Runs up to a Tzimisce, "Make me a vampire!" Nah! Turns them into a meat puppet. "I hate this game!" Logs off and uninstalls the game.
"I wanna be a werewolf!" They become a Glass Walker. "Werewolves in the internet? I wanna run around the woods!" Deletes character.
They become a Red Talon. "What? I was a wolf who changed into a human??? I hate people? I wanna fall in love with a person! I can't do that? I hate this game!" Logs off and uninstalls the game.
Just think of all of the possiblities of what a Twilight fan could run into in the WoD. The possibilities are endless!

Hallowed is the All Pie The Before Times: A Place That Celebrates The World That Was
This is a little story about four people named Everybody, Somebody, Anybody, and Nobody.
There was an important job to be done and Everybody was sure that Somebody would do it.
Anybody could have done it, but Nobody did it.
Somebody got angry about that because it was Everybody's job.
Everybody thought that Anybody could do it, but Nobody realized that Everybody wouldn't do it.
It ended up that Everybody blamed Somebody when Nobody did what Anybody could have done.
