I thought the cover was a great piece of art and it was neat to see it tie-in with the models on the back of the cover, both featuring a knight squaring up against a Keeper of Secrets.
I can't wait to hear some rumours or news on the Brettonians, they were the army that got me into Warhammer back in the day, and will always be near and dear to my heart.
Unfortunate thing is, from all the rumors I've read about fantasy releases, they are not coming any time soon.

Technically, I think the cover art was an advert. for their new Knight conversion pack. Not Brets.
Might be the case, though. Brets are what my GW blackshirt (yeah, I know, about as reliable as a random stranger on the street in about 99% instances) said would be next for WHFB, and it's still debated online just who'll be next (Brets, Orcs, and - I think - TKings were the three most supposed for WHFB, though the last might be WElves).

Picture looks like a Knight of the Realm, but as Minsc mentioned, the Knight upgrade packs are new right now so that could be the tie-in.
Bretts were my first full WHFB army, back when they were packaged with the boxed set. They were a fun army back then. Had the Robin Hood inspired special figures to go along with the bowmen.

The new knight pack is for the Empire, I believe, so I don't think that's the connection. I reckon we're going to have new Brets soon.
Also, I agree with Dave. The Daemon in the art is awsome, and I'd love to see it made into a mini.

Back on target, I do think Orcs and Goblins is next for fantasy but that Brets is after that. They have been out in the wilderness for a long time.

I thought those were udders
On topic - Bretonnians in 2011 would be a surprise, but it would be nice to see them developed a bit more. However, I'm not sure that the WD cover and backpage isn't just a case of reminding us that Bretonnians still exist.

Probably they figured that with no real 'focus' this month they might as well throw a random cover on. Brets won't be done for at least a year imo.

We already know that there will be no Bretonnians in the next 5 months (December, January and February releases confirmed by GW, March confirmed by BramGaunt, then a 40k release), and can assume that there will be no new Bretonnians for the next 12 months.
So calling a weak coincidence a rumour is just "upsetting the women folk".

Dark elf harpies still have "women parts" showing too.
On topic though, my friend just played Bretonnia in a Thanksgiving Massacre game in his basement (4 player, capture the middle of the table) and he said they are much much better with new rules. He said to give them a real try and play around with them-they got stronger with the new erratas that came out. I just thought people might want to look into them again and play around and I heard Morganna is particularly nasty now with what she can do for the army. Just what I heard from a friend currently beating people over the head with 'em. Hope it gets people interested

Here's hoping they include rules for the taunting castle defender. They snuck him into the current codex on top of the caste wall and it would be great to finally have him as a defender option for siege scenarios.

Indeed, your father was a hamster and your mother smells of elderberrys. I can see that infuriating many an Orc What they really need though is the Holy Hand Grenade of Antioch.

The saddest thing about the current Bret book is the anemic and uninspiring fluff. The models don't need much work, I think, they are mostly excellent, but the fluff is pretty bad at the moment. They should "borrow" some stuff from Game of Thrones to make the knight/peasant thing a bit more bearable. There's also very little fluff compared to some of the other books- the bit at the start with the different battles doesn't do it for me at all.
Fix that, and the archaic list structure, and you'd be on to a winner, I reckon.

@Flashman: Um, the Holy Hand Grenade of Antioch is in the Black Templar codex for 40k. It's the best reason for playing the army! They call it the Holy Orb of Antioch. The rules are that it's a 12" thrown weapon, once per game, roll to hit as normal (regular ballistic skill roll) and if it hits, place the small blast template over the target. It always wounds on a 2+ and is AP3. It causes automatic glances on any vehicle it touches. Now THAT is worth playing the Templars for. But, you must always count to 3 before throwing it. No more, no less. You're right though-Bretonnia does need access to it.

Bretonnian fluff could be expanded upon a little, but it's mysteriousness is part of that fluff as well. You can't say who the Green Knight actually was, cause it'd only result in disappointment. Seeing some more special characters, simply for the models would be nice rather than the generic 3; of which everyone only uses 1 (The Green Knight that is).
My main issue with the Bret codex is that they now have useless magical items and virtues. Little entries that simply sit there on the page and do absolutely nothing now rather than being converted into something USEFUL with a little bit of creativity on GW's side rather than 'Ignore this entry'. I guess they took one look at it, and thought "Bugger it" and slapped that stamp on it.

Just to add fuel here...At Gamesday US this year, I spoke with the Legendary John Blanche who would not confirm or deny that the Bretonnians were coming up next. However, he said that he had been tasked with the art work for the Dark Eldar (which werent confirmed at the time) and the Bretonnians, we could not take pics of work. Very nice guy btw, while we were walking up to the convention prior to opening, we waylaid him (actually just said hi and got pictures).

Bretonnians would be nice to see revisited. While they're decent enough, they're too much of a one trick pony with little or no variety of play style.
I really want a reason to motivate myself into working on my Bretonnians so I hope something comes of this.

Yeah the picture is really cool, if only the Brets had foot knights, would be awesome. I dont think we will see a book anytime soon. I am wishing for some more models tho. GW should update their models more regularly instead of when the new army book comes out. Oh well, just need to wait for till i get my hands on some more western European Knight goodness
