This is NOT a whats better thread. Its about the Nintendo 3DS, THATS IT

Well got an email this morning showing a whole bunch of neat stuff on the 3DS. Ive been waiting for this handheld for awhile and I have to say, the games look just awesome. Heres a video of some that will probably be launch titles if not close to launch titles anyways. Just remember you cant record the full 3d with a normal camera, but you can tell already this is a HUGE improvement over the previous....well anything Nintendo has made.

Im really digging Resident Evil revelations/metal gear/Legend of Zelda (fantastic game, now in 3d how great)/one of those racing games.....I cant remember the one that ISNT the ridge racer and a few others. Enjoy folks

Copy pasty from here : http://www.hardcoreware.net/nintendo-3ds-specs-comparison/

And some things it has/does

Launch cost $249.99 (not 300-400)
Does not need special 3d glasses. 3D is shown on the screen
Features a 3D slider, to adjust the 3d image intensity and can be turned off completely to 2D
Duel outside cameras allow for 3D pictures (and sooner or later 3D video)
More then 30 games due for Launch
Built in motion sensors/gyro sensors
Comes preloaded with "a bunch" of soft wear (not sure what that means, my "a bunch" could be more then their "a bunch"
Built in pedometer that adds "coins" to buy things with. Nothing else mentioned on it
Create a Mii or load a Mii from the Wii
Comes with 6 AR cards (augmented reality)
Backwards capable with DS games (sorry if you have any advanced games or older, they wont work)
As well as a "service" at launch that can allow you to transfer any bought (dsi download) games from your dsi to your 3DS. Not sure what they mean by service exactly, as to me a service means money. So possibly pay to have your already bought games transfered? Not sure but thats on there.

This is everything I have at the moment anyways. Enjoy

I was gonna get it. Then they slapped on a £220 price, and £30-£40 per game.

I think I'll give it a miss this time around.

Pretty much every launch title (except pro soccer that was a wtf moment ) I've seen for this system looks decent, or at least the concept behind the title seems decent. Then again there are quite a few in that video I haven't seen yet.

I hope it doesn't go with the gimmicky route like the DS and Wii did.

One title missed by that video is this, which should be fairly good.

Probably won't get one at launch seeing as it'll probably be $350-400, just like the PSP was at first. >_>

You have to feel sorry for all those loyal Nintendo fans who keep buying every DS which comes out.

I guess it looks pretty cool but i'll just stick with my normal DS Lite for the time being, I only play Pokemon anyway.

Why? It just shows they have plenty of money and like great games.

The only thing that stops me from ordering the 3DS is that I think it has region locking. Since I play British, US and Japanese region games I need a console with no lock.

That's another reason I'm not getting it.
There was a bunch of great DS games that weren't released in the UK (like god damn Digimon World. I WANT MY DIGIMON WORLD). I have/had to import them.

No longer the case. =|

Im sure that will still happen a bit, I mean its the curse that Nintendo brought on themselves. But I have to say there are already some saving graces in the video. I mean metal gear, syphon filter, RESIDENT EVIL! Street Fighter and samurai warrior, those are all in the "hardcore" games market. Hell both the racing games in there look pretty good, and I love me some racing games.

Also the launch price is $250

And for giggles the pages with all its neat stuff it does. I have to say (Im a big fan of the DSi anyways so forgive any fanboi-ism) Im pretty impressed so far with what they say it can do. I mainly hope the camera quality is better then the DSi, because the ability to stick GOOD cameras into cellphones, means to me, they dropped the ball on the DSi camera. Anywho heres some info pages

I'm still trying to figure out how to feel about the new Sony NGP (PSP2). I was hoping for something a little more radical of an overhaul but it just seems like a slightly updated PSP (not even the PSP Go).

I am curious about the 3DS but would really love to see it in action before sinking anything into it.

Hmm while it seems interesting im also a tad confused, which may be down to my own perspective.

Is the 3DS meant to make things jump out the screen at you(my perspective when i hear of 3D) or is it somethin else??

It is meant to be 3D like Avatar or Tron Legacy were 3D, only without the need for glasses. The screen creates the illusion of depth.

And will soon support 3D video taking.

But you cant win everyone over.

Youll be able to see it in action soon enough Id imagine. Its launch date is just over a month away

So, let me get this straight. You are going to use another portable console, so you don't care about this one. The features and games are irrelevant to you because you already have an alternative.

Why didn't you say so from the start.

In fairness, the 3d camera and video is plainly a gimmick and will likely see rare use and inconsistent quality. Nintendo has always won these things on the quality of it's software library, good gimmicks (the screen), and the price. The 3ds will sell based on pokemon, mario, zelda, and the 3d screen. The rest of the 3dS features are seemingly gimmicky and questionably thought out (as is the modus operandi of the company).

Did i ever state that i dont care about the 3DS?? No, the fact i posted in this thread should suffice i have at least some care for it coz if i didnt care i would have seen this thread and bypassed it. The games are irrelevant quite simply because all of them appear to be games available on a console, in some shape or form. if they started releasing 3DS exclusives then i may pick it up. As for the 3D effects while being a jump forward in gaming that alone doesnt make me want to pay £220, games that are exclusive and other features that are new would probly make me pay the price.

Can't the exact same thing be said about the PsP? A console which debuted as the most expensive in it's class and which to this day has very few titles that can not be found in better form on a consoles? The best monster hunter to date is on the Wii after all. 80% of the announced 3DS lineup is platform exclusive, this all just seems like console fanboism.

Yes while the PSP was overly priced at the start, i got my PSP 2nd hand only 2 years ago when i was doing alot of travelling and the games for the PSP were more appealing than any other handheld at that time. As for fanboyism that clearly isnt true as i have played consoles inluding handhelds from Sony, Microsoft and Nintendo and each of them have their pros and cons. It may be due to the fact I see Nintendo as more of a company that produces games for family enjoyment, with exceptions of course, while i see Microsoft and Sony being for more "serious" gamers.

As for the exclusives, it wouldnt surprise me if most of them are re-makes of older Nintendo consoles for example Mario Kart.

Dont get me wrong the 3DS sounds good and all but it just doesnt have enough to back it up at the moment to make me buy it. Once it drops in price/has a better selection of games then i will consider getting it.

Ok Gentlemen how bout we let the arguments stop for christ sakes. This is a thread on a hand held game console, no where is there a political or religious message so just stop the E-peen already ya?

The Pokemon comment - Yea if your just playing pokemon then I dont blame you. Hell I didnt upgrade mine to DSi until after the XL came out for that very reason. Im glad I did the the DSi is a pretty neat system. So just imagine WHEN they make a pokemon game on this system. The graphics are already looking very nice (better then the Wii? Possibly Ill say) they have the chance to really make a badass pokemon game. If it is anywhere near the shadow Colosseum Ill be more then a happy camper

Shuma - I agree that there are things on ALL nintendo systems that are gimmicks. Hell the only thing Ive used the camera on mine for is to make my hilariously awesome avatar everyone sees. Know what else? Uhm...... I have some pictures of my feet, and I warped them.......exciting.

BUT still, the fact remains that we have soem incredibly nice cameras smashed into tiny ass cellphones. Why cant they do something similar? The way I see it, if they could, they should of. But the 3d camera could actually be fun. And when they launch the 3D video on it, I think Porn will have a huge market place for the 3DS. Tell me you wouldnt want 3D boobies in one hand? Also sometimes gimmicks can be great and charming.

I mean this is still something from nintendo. I love nintendo, Im that guy that sticks up for them and hopes against hope that they will pop out another good game. A good game, amast the floods of cutesy gimmicky crap that they seem to have. Like I said earlier, Nintendo definitely cursed themselves. Its started with the gamecube(the only real thing that system had going for it is it outlasted the other 2 systems in an endurance test. Big deal) and got far worse on the Wii. But judging from the line up of games, I think they not only want to KEEP the handheld market, but CRUSH anything else out there. That way they have BOTH the cutesy gimmicky market, AND the hardcore gamers. Seriously this thing is looking, to me anyways, that its attempting it.

Also it comes with a 2mb memory stick. Why the hell didnt my dsi come with one? I just hope they actually are useful this time around. Because after I bought a memory stick, it just sat in my DSi

Might do for others - but I don't own a piece of Apple technology (Zen is FAR superior sound-wise, IMO).
Also, I'm not paying more for a handheld when I can get a full console for the same price. The only thing that would tempt me at the moment is the NGP/PSP2, simply because of what they've suggested it does (IE: Save a PS3 game at home, continue playing from the NGP).

Also, I'm not paying 30-40 quid for a damn gameboy games. The good thing about the DS games was that most of them were usually around £20 after a few months.

The creative zen line is the MP3 player line for cheapskates who don't like quality products and I'm pretty sure the price drop will happen with 3ds games too. Also, continuing to play ps3 games on the NGP is not a noted feature. The NGP is not as powerful as a PS3 by their admittance (and basic logic), and none of the cross platform games are exact ports (why you would buy the same game twice is odd anyway, especially considering the two consoles are confirmed as not using the same webstore).

Either way, you're comparing brand new handhelds to five year old consoles that have gone through multiple iterations and which you would own by now if you wanted.

Wow, someone's being a tad pretentious.

I chose to pick Zen over iPod and do not regret that choice. I got the NOMAD Jukebox Zen back in 2002. I got the ZEN Vision:M when that broke in 2006. I moved to the ZEN X-Fi when my Vision broke in 2009 - then got a ZEN Style when I dropped a spanner at work, and smashed the screen. Considering I don't (personally) know anyone who has had an iPod that's lasted for more than a year, I count myself lucky. And, as all of my friends have had iPods, I've heard the sound on them - and it's nothing compared to any of the Zen's I've had.

Not only THAT, but they've all got better battery life compared to the iPod counter-parts. So what if they're cheaper?

And as far as I'm concerned, opinions are like orgasms. I don't give a crap about yours, as long as I have one.

Also, do some basic research. That's what Sony are hoping to do with the NGP/PSP2. (Also note that I put "what they've suggested it does").
On the point of buying games twice - they could follow what blurays do, and have a digital version of the game on the PS3 version, especially as blurays have a lot of free space on them.

They won't give you 2 versions of the game.. why should they when they can make more money by forcing you to buy 2? If they do ever do something like that, it'll be a year or more after the game is out, and it'll be included in the Super Mega Anniversary Game of the Decade Edition, that you absolutely must buy because you want to give your characters new costumers too.

My iPod has lasted way more than a year, and the battery life is still good But that's luck. Gadgets are designed to be replaced in 1-2 years, especially cellphones. They want your phone to die before you contract runs out, so that you'll get a new phone and a new contract, and then rinse and repeat. And if you decide to jump ship instead, you have a big ship-jumping charge to pay, so your new carrier can do the same thing. All crooks.

It should tell you how little people actually care about the 3DS. It's a DS with 3d and graphics that will still be behind the curve when it's released. A year later a pokemon game will release and everyone will buy 10. Nintendo pushes hardware through software, sony pushes software through hardware. Thus the nature of the pre launch console conversation is going to tilt towards sony (which also debuted two days ago). Once both systems have been in their ecosystem for a year and the underpowered gimmicky console has all the games and the overpowered paperweight has console ports everyone will be talking about the 3DS.

Wow, someone's being a tad pretentious.

I do that. Sorry.

Oddly enough, apples mobile devices are typically and annually awarded best in class on sound quality as well as build quality. I've had my ipod touch since it launched. It's damaged, but still works fine in all applications. I drop it a lot.

Not only THAT, but they've all got better battery life compared to the iPod counter-parts. So what if they're cheaper?

I know the rant of the anti apple fanboy when I see one. It's typically loaded with inaccuracies that five minutes on the internet can spot. In fairness though, you're paying half the price for a fifth the battery life, so at least it... Wait... No, thats bad for the money.

I've read every released piece of information about the NGP, no where is it stated that there will be cross platform games. It's stated that you can store PS3 saves on the NGP and that the NGP can use cloud storage for saves (for whatever reason, it's not a particularly useful feature on a handheld), but those PS3 saves are not for NGP games or vice versa. It's a capability of the system, but it's been a capability of PSP for years as well and it never happened because it's not a useful feature.

On the point of buying games twice - they could follow what blurays do, and have a digital version of the game on the PS3 version, especially as blurays have a lot of free space on them.

The PsP and the Ps3 are confirmed as not using the same webstore, the PsP webstore is partnered with the android store for apps. The PS3 doesn't get to sail on that boat, likely because it's not legally authorized to do so and the form factor would make no sense.

Har har. I'm poking fun at the fact the DSI came out not to long ago, and they are already making a new one.
Its almost a bad as the Pokemon games. Two each release? Are you Fething me? They are just repaints of the same old Gameboy games, but with 'OMG AWESOME NEW LEGENDARY!"
